As far as I know, they're still airmen. I retired in 1995 and haven't kept up with all the changes.

I went TDY to Scotland a long time ago when I was an airman, and the base operators got such a hoot when I would call and identify myself as "Airman X". They thought I was a girly-man! LOL. RAF female troops are "airwomen". Thanks for a funny memory!
