The only poll that counts is running 80% for Bush.

Do you have a clue as to why? If you stopped and thought about it you would not be glad. Show me where Reagan stayed that high. He didn't. Be thankfull. Be very thankfull he didn't. Why? Do the math. 80% means HAPPY DEM's. It has too mean that to be 80%. Why are they so happy? DUH! Could it be a substancial portion of their agenda is getting through and signed by POTUS? They may not get the whole package they want but they are getting what they want enough to let Bush be their man doing their work.

Ever see a Republican do as much and get re-elected? I have and he about wrecked a state doing it. G.W. Bush reminds me alot of Tennessee Governor Don Sundquist. Both enjoyed high approval ratings in their first term. The very name of Sundquist now in most threads will draw contemp from those in Tennessee.

I would not be so happy and cheerfull. It means someone is getting sold out.

Would you mind telling me what makes Bush any better than Robert Byrd?

For you even to ask that question proves you have no integrity.

So our ancestors are lawbreakers?

Actually they were conquers. Read your history and learn a valueable lesson from what eventually happened to the Indians. They were at first all too eager for the most part to please the new comers. Now you tell me. Who's culture is prevailent today? Indian or Euro-American? I rest my case.

Perhaps some of the W fans on this issue (let me pause to say I am an administration fan on most other issues)...can draw a realistic election eve map where the GOP wins the presidency with immigration destinations NY, CA, FL and TX all colored Democratic blue.

Ya know, Latino women, especially the Cubans, have a lot of cuties in their ranks. And they seem to stay younger looking and in better shape than other women, generally speaking.

I think that only the young, Latino women should get amnesty.

Or maybe the immigrants in these states will remember that it was a Republican who opened the door and welcomed them. Maybe this has been the plan all along.

Sure, there's a large riff-raff population among poorer immigrant classes, but these Hispanic immigrants don't come off to me as being parasites by nature and I bet the great majority of them will be highly productive landscapers or something.

Reagan did more.

Reagan made mistakes. However one of them was not alienating himself from the conservative base. He united conservatives rather than saying go away and vote for me next election again. Tell me at a Ronald Reagan/GOP Convention would you hear anyone say where else can they go {meaning Conservatives}? Would Reagan have tolorated it? No bush didn't say it but rather Jerry Ford his advisor did and Bush did not rebuke it either. Reagan and his team was not that arrogant. Bush is far left of Reagan. He like his dad thumbs his nose at the Conservatives and Reagan policies.

Ronald Reagan didn't have to have lovefest with Teddy to get the job done. It wasn't "Let's make a deal." It was rather "here is the deal." That is why the GOP can not lead to this very day. Reagan had the good sense not to give away the farm too buy a cow. The current leadership is now selling the cow that was bought with the money from bargain price selling the farm after 1996, and trying to buy a Rooster and call it a good deal. Meaning these deals are far too costly.

No, nothing can make up for that.

Because, by knowingly acquitting a perjurer and obstructor of justice, Byrd put party before all and violated his solemn constitutional oath.

Bush and Rove pulled a smart move or was it a dumb move! Maybe it depends on who the audience is?

The Bush cheerleaders, aka Bushbots, will claim Bush is a genius no matter what he does, including this amnesty/pandering garbage. Those concerned with protecting the border and the country, see this pandering for what it is. Kudos to Byrd if he stops this insanity.
