USO Canteen Freeper Style
War has come to our shores. It was committed on American soil. We have been able to live in Freedom only because of those who have fought in the past wars giving life, limb and all the sacrifices for us to live in Freedom and go about our day without fear.
On September 11, 2001, that comfort, that feeling of living in a land that would not be attacked ended.
William T. Sherman said it succinctly, "War is hell."
The day has come for this Nation and its people to understand that there is a risk in losing its freedom, and in reality there always has been. We have ONLY stayed free because of the sacrifices of our military, our warriors.
This is about saving the future of America. Aristotle said, "We make war that we may live in peace."
We are seeing the American Flag flying at homes now more than ever in my lifetime. We are seeing the American Flag flying on vehicles and people wearing Flag pins and small Flags on their clothes. America is united in the cause for Freedom and for our country to WIN against the evil that came upon our land to kill and hurt us. To change our way of life and to destroy America which is US, you and me. To take away our precious Freedom.
This is the Freeper version of the USO Canteen. Where soldiers could come and feel a small part of being at home. It is a place where you that have family in the military can post a thought to a loved one that might be able to read it far away from home. A place where we that support our military can help support them, post to them, fun graphics showing the price in America and our troops. Poems, quotes, cartoons, or articles of how America is behind our troops.
Those in our military are our Nation's warriors. Let us join hands, fly our Flag and let the world know how important our warriors are to us....And that our MILITARY, our Warriors, are America's TRUE HEROS!
"No Marine was ever honored for what they received. Honor was the reward for what they gave." (Anonymous) CHIEF gave his all in many ways. He touched our lives and his friendship meant so much to all of us. He will live in our hearts forever, and his friendship will always be a bright and shining memory in our hearts and souls.

We have a volunteer fire department here. They show up at fires quicker than the regular fire department in town does. We are very proud of them. My MIL and I work hard to raise money for them, along with the fire auxilary.

Wish y'all were here with me today to help me pack records. I'm not moving so fast. LOL We have hundreds of them. I'm listening to them before I pack them. I'm getting one packed every 30 minutes. LOL (Don't want to take a bad record with us. Need to make sure they are good). LOL We could drink coffee, eat donuts and boogie to my Saturday Night Fever record.
I just got done listening to the Beatles and Herb Albert. This David Cassidy record has GOT to go!! WHAT was I thinking?
To: SAMWolf
Yes sir, I did. But I don't know how to post it. Sniff... I was reading my HTML book last night, trying to figure it out. The book is for smart people who "get it". I'll have to get DH to help me.

LOL... I think I have a David Cassidy record too.... "Judy, Judy, Judy, do ya love me? Judy, Judy, Judy do ya care?.... lalala" :)

G'Morning All! A new Canteen thread, what a great way to start the day, eh?
SAM, I was browsing the weekend threads and saw your posts regarding Canadian troops taking part in Operation Anaconda. A prevalent theme in the captions was that this was the first major Canadian combat since Korea. It seemed to me that that wasn't quite true, so I did some searching.
Turns out that the claim is only partly true. Although it doesn't look like any Canadian units participated in Vietnam, many Canadians did. They were participants in the peace talks, they were observers in country...and, according to this page, at least 100 Canadians gave their full measure in that conflict.
As Tonk says so often, never forget! Those who have given their lives for the freedom of others deserve no less than our full devotion and remembrance.

General Tommy Franks, chief of Central Command, today awarded five *BRONZE STARS*
to men for bravery in the Anaconda Strike during a reenlistment ceremony.
We salute these special men, and all involved in that theater of the war against terororism!

Oh, me too, Sassy! My husband is a whole lot like the President, courageous and strong, sensitive and tender (and a little teary), with a goofy little kid sense of humor!
That's why I love him so much, and that's why President Bush is #2 in my book too!
Speaking of little kids.......I've finished my little kid sketch of the the President (when he was known as 'Georgie.') As soon as I darken it enough to be scanned, I'll post it............and Sassy, it's almost as good as yours!! Have you put that one up on the fridge yet?! LOL!!

ALL:
Good morning everyone. I have a very special post for everyone today.
I am always in awe at how wonderful, and special Freepers are.
Yesterday Mr. Teacup and I had the pleasure of meeting G'nad and his lovely family. We had G'nad and his family over to our home for dinner, beer tasting, since G'nad and Mr. Teacup brew their own beer, some good ole Freeper fellowship.
G'nad and his family is just an absolutely wonderful family, and we were so enriched by meeting them. We took pictures and I planned to post them here on the Canteen today, but unfortunately, we lost all our pictures as Mr. Teacup was attempting to download them to my desk top. I head a " OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" It was Mr. Teacup telling me "I don't know what happened! All the pictures we had stored up on our digital camera got erased."
I felt so sorry for Mr. Teacup because he felt so badly about this. So I guess G'nad and his family will just have to back for another visit, LOL.
FREEPERS ARE SO COOL! Thank you Jim Robinson for Free Republic.
