I'm big on home defense, but I'm not sure I could pull the trigger to shoot 11-year olds who are stealing my stuff... That's why I have a sword hanging above my desk in my home office. In a close-quarters situation, a long blade has several advantages over a gun:
- You can leave it instantly accessible in a house containing your young kids -- little kids understand "Sharp! Dont touch" at an early age
- A blade does not run out of ammo, or misfire
- You don't have to worry about bullets missing and passing through the wall into the next room
- You can better control the amount of damage done to the opponent -- a quick superficial slice can be discouraging. A quick removal of a head can be even more discouraging to a pack
- A gang of kids may believe you won't shoot -- they are less likely to doubt that I'll cut them

I knew there was a reason I liked you... ;0)

Comedian Todd Yohn did a great (and true) song, "If you want to get away with murder, you've got to use a knife"

There can be only one.
No, seriously. This is a pack mentality in action. I think we will be seeing more of this kind of thing. So, who wants to teach me to swordfight?
