Jim Ryan, as Illinois' Attorney General, has gone after Jackson.

Illinois awaits Jackson tax form

By Steve Miller

THE WASHINGTON TIMES, February 27.

The Rev. Jesse Jackson's premier tax-exempt organization has not filed a state tax return for 2000 and is in danger of losing its legal authority to raise money, an official with the Illinois attorney general's office said.

"This is problematic," said Dan Anders, a spokesman for the office, which regulates tax-exempt businesses in Illinois. "The forms were due in June, and over the last eight months, we have sent notices and contacted them by phone.

"They told us a month ago that they would file, but we still don't have the forms. If they can't comply, their registration will be canceled."

He said the Citizenship Education Fund, Mr. Jackson's primary funding vehicle, is eight months delinquent in filing and has never asked for a deadline extension or explained the delay.

"They have not described to us what the problem is," Mr. Anders said.

Losing the organization's registration would cripple Mr. Jackson's empire, which includes the Wall Street Project and the International Trade Bureau. The Citizenship Education Fund provides money for Mr. Jackson's most prominent group, the for-profit Rainbow/PUSH Coalition. The coalition received $300,000 from the Citizenship Education Fund in 1999, tax records showed.

I am sorry you just showed me how incompetent the IL attorney general's office is. For eight months, they sit on their behind as Jackson doesn't file his taxes, and you tell me that somehow he has cracked down on Jesse Jackson. I will tell you this though, Ryan is in the forefront when it comes to cracking down on Microsoft. We must either be mad, or completely stupid to vote for Jim Ryan. He can be a commissar in the old Soviet Republic, but should not be a dog-catcher here.

Are you trying to say that this is a special investigation? If what is being said about Jesse Jackson is true, you would think that Mr. Ryan would have done a little more than notice that his YR 2000 tax forms hadn't been filed.

Who are you kidding? This is 2002, and JJ is delinquent on his 2000 tax return. If you are raising hundreds and thousands of dollars and do not file your tax return, and if your name doesn't happen to be Jesse Jackson, then you are toast. Ryan doesn't have the balls to go after Jackson, or he doesn't want to piss off the media, or both.

"This is problematic" AG Ryan has the authority to shutdown PUSH on Monday. He's waiting for the fall to swap votes for an "whitie-wash". BTW, stop bringing that liberal trash on this board. This is a conservative website. NITWhit!

Thanks, I'd already read the article....dated February 27, 2002, about 2 weeks ago.
Ryan isn't even mentioned....you'd think he'd want to take the credit, wouldn't you?
Where's he been....Jackson's been in the shakedown business throughout the Clinton years...
also throughout Ryan's term as AG of Illinois.
So, 2 weeks ago he suddenly realizes that there's a little problem with Jackson's accounting methods???
I don't think so. Looks to me like the Ryan campaign got the polling data
back on his inaction on JJ (among other things).
Way too little, way too late.

Gee, John, is Attorney General Jeyyfish ready to act against his pal Jesse yet? It's only been nine months now. Maybe the Rev. Mr. Shakedown can't afford accountants? Or lawyers? Maybe Attorney General Jellyfish can funnel Jesse Jackass another few hundred thousand from some other lawsuit to pay for his attor--- whoops, another "job training" program?

Will Jim Ryan make Illinois safe for DemonRatic corruption? Will Richie Daley throw machine support to Jim Ryan to keep the cozy and corrupt arrangements of 26 years of RINO governors with those Chicago choir boys intact? Can Jim Ryan learn at this late stage to stop saying the right thing as well as he has learned to stop DOING the right thing? To what country without an extradition treaty with the United States will RINO George Ryan escape to? Is that why he has been commuting to Cuba?

Which Lieutenant Governor will be succeeding Jim Ryan upon his demise? Why are we asked to buy a pig in a poke as though our nomination were Jim Ryan's going away present?
