Wrong, CedarDave, there has already been an Hispanic governor: liberal Democrat Raul Castro in the 1970s in AZ. Also an Hispanic sentor: liberal Democrats Dennis Chavez and Joseph Montoya, both of NM.

Forgot about him -- didn't he come right before or after Babbit? And New Mexico has had a history of Hispanic representation in Congress -- Though mostly Democrats (except for Lujan), they were a lot more conservative than todays Rats.
