RUSH LIMBAUGH: BUSH "NO CONSERVATIVE"

Posted on 03/16/2002 10:01:26 PM PST by StopDemocratsDotCom

It took a while for Bush to win over Conservatives who now support him all way. That's why I hate it when the word RHINO is thrown left and right when talking about a Republican who may do something that seems out of step with what we agree with and we don't realize that politics is all about winning and looking like a "centrist"

Check out this 1999 Article:

Conservative talkmeister Rush Limbaugh blasted away at George W. Bush with both barrels today, stoking a possible clash between grass-roots conservatives and the front-running candidate who is already pursuing a centerist general election strategy.

"He's really wandered off the reservation here lately folks," Limbaugh intoned, before making the case against the recent Bush positioning.

"In my mind," he told his listeners, "no conservative running for president would make the kind of statements that he's made. No conservative running for president would leave his philosophical brothers and sisters dying on the congressional battlefield the way Bush did with that EITC (Earned Income Tax Credit) thing. And now he's done it again with the speech at the Manhattan Institute. He's done it twice in seven or eight days time."

"This obviously is a carefully crafted strategy." Limbaugh continued. "What it means is that solid conservatives from Tom DeLay to Dick Armey, who are doing all they can to eke out small majorities and beat back Clinton and all his Big Government schemes-issue after issue-end up being emasculated by Bush's comments."

"Who wants a Republican moderate as president?" Limbaugh asked, a question the Bush camp must hope that other conservatives don't begin asking.

I want to know when it became "conservative" to simply hold the line on spending and taxes??? I always thought conservative meant cutting spending and lowering taxes, making everyone less dependant on government.

According to this new definition:

Conservative = same taxes, same spending

More conservative = slightly lower taxes, slightly lower spending (with some rearranging of spending priorities)

Even more conservative = even lower taxes, lower spending

Most conservative = very little to no taxes, hardly any spending (except on defense, infrastructure, and law enforcement - might be able to finance via tariffs alone).

Complete and utter status quo has become a definition for "conservative." What a crock.

If he runs up the defict the RATS are going to pound him with it. More tax cuts is the way the GOP can counter the vote buying of the RATS but they have to counter it with some cuts somewhere.

Not immigration per se 3rd world immigration( I have no problem with people with skills & not too large families who have who speak or intend to learn English coming here).

I am going to say those posters are not ignorant - this is one of those touchy feely things like 'we are all immigrants', 'they just want a better life'.

Oh look. It's another "Bush is no conservative" thread.
A place for the perpetually dissatisfied to vent, once again.
How predictable.

"It took a while for Bush to win over Conservatives who now support him all way."

This is a load of horse feathers, no real conservative would ever vote for Bush again. Fool me once..etc. He is out of there in 2004 for the sake of what remains of the nation. He's a no borders globalist, the worst possible type for President, no one I know personally says they will vote for him again, and they are people who actually vote. He has made it his personal business to step on the face of all conservatives, christian and otherwise, I think he will pay the price at the polls. He will not be able to pander enough votes from minorities to offset his conservative losses and carry the day, on going war or no on going war.
