That question cannot be answered without being more specific and it all depends on local laws. Some places you cannot use wooden sticks for signs, or they cannot be over a certain length or diameter. In some places you have to keep moving, in most you cannot enter the street except to cross, etc. In some cases, all we can do is direct the inquiry to the place most likely to a have an answer. In many legal situations, we would direct them to their own attorney or one who has agreed to help out FReepers by answering general questions.

The FRN attorney has been consulted on that issue. The attorney has more than 20 years of experience in law, politics and public policy. This person advises corporations, non-profit organizations, candidates, campaigns, vendors and individuals on state and federal election and campaign finance law and compliance issues related to lobbying, ethics and financial disclosure at both the state and federal levels. An announcement about the FRN working with this attorney will be made public soon. You will recognize them.
Any chapter can do anything they want as long as they do not spend over $5000 doing it. The FRN offers tools to the chapters of freerepublic.com and helps them with their activism. They are not part of the FRN corporation.

Did I hear protest?

"What can we legally do and not do?"
"Shouldn't that question be posed of someone with a legal background? Like the FRN attorney?"
As soon as a specific question is asked, we will know whether it is something general that we have experience with or whether it should be directed to an attorney. I think you would agree that if someone asks "Can I bring a gun to a rally", that is one we could probably handle.

Well, thank you. Regards, Jim Robinson
To: Jim Robinson
Jim:
As someone else said, thanks for making all this possible. Your words of support are greatly appreciated.
Los Angeles area Freepers:
Join the Network if you haven't already. In upcoming months we're going to have a lot for you to do. Don't worry, we won't require more than you can handle. We'd like to meet you and join you in slam-dunking some of that Democrat agenda into the waste bin of history, WHERE IT BELONGS!

What if the individual has a CCW permit? Could you really say that?
What did I say?
