I hope the kid's lawyer is sharp enough to find everything the perp's family owns and takes it. If the kid waits a few years and whacks the perp, he has a better than even chance of getting away with it, especially if it is in an urban jurisdiction with a bad murder solution rate. If you ain't standing over the wictim screaming "Die!" when the cops show up, you'd be suprised at what you can get away with in some cities.
