Senate Panel Rejects Pickering

WASHINGTON - The Democratic-controlled Senate Judiciary Committee voted along party lines Thursday to kill the nomination of Judge Charles Pickering to the appeals court, handing President Bush a stinging defeat in a racially-charged confirmation battle.

In a series of roll calls, the panel also snubbed Bush's request to allow a vote in the full Senate on Pickering, a 64-year-old Mississippian with more than a decade on the bench.

By the way, I learned today that even though Clarence Thomas's nomination was TIED in the Senate Judiciary along partisan lines and the Democrats were in control of the committee, the ranking RAT at the time alowed his vote to go to the full senate - where he was barely confirmed 52-48.

Yup. Absolute proof that the Clinton influence from 1993-2001 has turned an already-nasty party into a party of near total evil. As least during the Reagan and Bush I eras they were merely jerks. Now they're outright scum.

I have a better idea: They should have demanded to seat Mel himself. Have a coffin sitting in the Senate chamber.

What I hate most about being a Republican is we kill each other!! ESPECIALLY CONSERVATIVES - just log onto FreeRepublic for proof. We'll never get ourselves together as long as we are so disjointed, meanwhile we let the majority sink us further and further into socialism. I'm disgusted! PIPE DREAMS - just like the radical Muslims - we're no different - they're not going to give an inch either. You rather die than succeed one principle. I've noticed Rush is struggling with this same issue this week! However, I think he sees the end game unlike many Freepers!

I'm hoping that one or two RAT senators (one of the men; the RAT female senators are all whores) will refuse to be associated with their repulsive party and will jump ship. Soon.

It kills me when you say McCollum was not worthy of the Republican candidacy. Freepers are all over the map on this issue: do we elect candidates that can win or do we elect on strict conservative principles? With very few areas strict conservatives are never going to win IMO. Conservative principles have to be gained back just like socialist principles have got us this far. It wasn't just one election, it was decades of elections!!

You caould not be more right.. errr.. Correct.

All of the name callingand hand wringing and jeffords bashing (however correct) is totally inapproptriate to this discussion!

CLUE: Violating one's senatorial oath of ofice by subverting the Constitution is ILLEGAL. Senator leahy has usurped the powers of the executive branch of government ind is totally vulnerable to civil or criminal action to correct the abuse of law he has done.

Need proof? Joseph goebbels first principle of political propaganda: Accuse your opponents of the crime you are comitting. Read senator daschle's remarks after this asinine crayon assault on our constitution, he says President Bush, in pressing for a floor vote on Pickering's nomination was "violating 200 years of tradition...".

Am I getting THROUGH TO THE COMMUNITY HERE?????

If we do not demand action to correct a de facto rewriting of the constitution we will have a the leahy legacy forever, where the politization of the judicial confirmation process places the legislative branch in charge of judicial nominations.

Your Constitution has been defaced by the stunted minds of lilliputian congressional leftists for pure political expediency. We must force our government to scrub leahy and daschle's unsightly crayon marks from that sacred text.

CALL WRITE EMAIL Make NOISE, empower President Bush with your voices to restore the powers of the executive branch of our government from the criminal pruning by the lunatic left!

And stop chewing on each others feet for chrissakes

One year from now the Rats will not be in control of the Senate.

The only thing keeping W and the GOP aloft, like Wile E. Coyote beyond the cliff edge, is the War on Terrorism. When that fades as an issue, we're going to see immigration-driven demographic reality kick in with a vengance. Maybe I'm wrong and Jorge's americanos nuevos will all magically vote GOP, but a safer bet is that President Hillary Clinton gets her 60 Senate votes in 2006.

Don't you think the Democrats spent tons of political capital on this nomination? I don't think they can do this too many more times. I'm so truly angry that I left a voice mail message on all their phones tonight.

We lost this battle, but this is a WAR! Let's not forget this battle and look at the War's end! I think the Democrats look horrible even though they won this battle!

Roger, Roger, Roger

God Bless You Sir, and I am sure you're a stalwart fellow and all, but you are wringing your hands like an old woman... with all due respect...

If I may impart a rhetorical slap in the face, SNAP OUT OF IT!!!

We have a job to do, we need to act to get our constitution back, please direct your efforts to voicing the opinion that senator leahy must be hauled into court for redress of his rewriting of our constitution!

The overt politization of the judicial confirmation process violates the separataion of powers, we have a HUGE OPPORTUNITY to force back the tide of lillipution leftist vandaliasm of Truth, Justice and the American Way!

This act is indefensible, lefties are more vulnerable at this moment than EVER BEFORE, they can be HURT AND HURT BADLY if only we act to reverse an extremely reversible MISTAKE on their part.

CALL WRIRE EMAIL make NOISE, reverse the rewriting of our Constitution!

Can he still legally receive a recess appointment after being rejected by the Senate?

He wasn't rejected by the Senate, which never voted on his nomination, because of the Marxist tactics used on the Judicial Committee.

BRAVO!!!!! OK EVERYBODY LOOKY AT ALISSA HERE, HERE IS ONE WITH THE RIGHT IDEA. All we need to do is make some noise folks, this act by the senate judicial committee was in incremental coup against the Constitution they swore to uphold, their back sides are dangling out, they make the Big Mistake, and we can put their stupid arses on the defense for good if we ACT

Kiss your mother with that mouth?
The Bush administration has just pinata-beat conservatives with their Amnesty bill. Sorry if I haven't rushed back to their side in time to rally for a candidate they couldn't be bothered to fight for themselves.

Contact YOUR Senator and let them know what you think about the Senate Judiciary committee Democrats refusing to allow this to come to a vote on the floor of the Senate.

You forgot this one:

Sen. Paul Wellstone and Norm Coleman (R), even, 50-50
(Wellstone's chances downgraded 1/22/02 from 52.2%)

Have you ever heard the expression, "Giving them enough rope to hang themselves?"

Stop underestimating the President. Haven't you learned anything?
