WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The Navy has awarded a posthumous Bronze Star medal to the U.S. Navy SEAL who was killed by al Qaeda forces after he was knocked out of his helicopter in the opening phase of Operation Anaconda on March 4.

The citation for Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Aircraft Handling) SEAL 1st Class Neil C. Roberts reads in part:

"On that evening, his unit was to conduct a clandestine insertion onto a 10,000-foot mountain peak to establish an overwatch position, for an indeterminate amount of time, protecting other U.S. forces participating in the operation.

"As the helicopter moved into position for the insertion, Petty Officer Roberts positioned himself on the helicopter ramp in order to expeditiously exit the helicopter, minimizing the threat to the aircraft and crew.

"Without notice, his CH-47 helicopter received three rocket-propelled grenades exploding through the body of the aircraft.

"Hydraulic lines showered the metal ramp with slippery fluid as the aircraft lurched violently from the unexpected assault.

"Petty Officer Roberts was thrown from the ramp of the helicopter, falling onto the al Qaeda-infested mountain top just feet below.

"He immediately maneuvered to make contact with rescue forces and establish a defensive position but, surrounded by overwhelming enemy force with superior fire power, Petty Officer Roberts died on the battlefield from fatal combat wounds.

"By his zealous initiative, courageous actions, and exceptional dedication to duty, Petty Officer Roberts reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Navy.

"The Combat Distinguishing Device is authorized."

An Update on my Sister:

Thank you dear FRiends for your prayers for my sister. She saw her oncologist today and GOOD NEWS!!! The CT scan showed just tiny spots of cancer that had returned, so NO SURGERY will be needed! Praise God!

She will have the radioactive iodine, which will kill the cancer cells. It will be a larger dose than if she had had it a year ago after her thyroid surgery, and she will be in the hospital for 2-3 days, but the oncologist says my sis will be OK!

I am so relieved and I am singing songs of praise today to our awesome God. Thank you dear FRiends for your support of me and my sister. I love and appreciate y'all so much!

Jen

Feeling Old?

Just in case you weren't feeling old enough today, this will certainly change things. Each year the staff at Beloit College in Wisconsin puts together a list to try to give the Faculty a sense of the mindset of this year's incoming freshman.

Here is this year's list:

1. The people who are starting college this fall across the nation were born in 1983.

2. They have no meaningful recollection of the Reagan Era and probably did not know he had ever been shot.

3. They were prepubescent when the Persian Gulf War was waged.

4. There has been only one Pope in their lifetime.

5. They were 10 when the Soviet Union broke apart and do not remember the Cold War.

6. They are too young to remember the space shuttle blowing up.

7. Tianamen Square means nothing to them.

8. Bottle caps have always been screw off and plastic.

9. Atari predates them, as do vinyl albums.

10. The statement "You sound like a broken record" means nothing to them.

11. They have never owned a record player.

12. They have likely never played Pac Man and have never heard of Pong.

13. They may have never heard of an 8 track. The Compact Disc was introduced when they were 1 year old.

14. They have always had an answering machine.

15. Most have never seen a TV set with only 13 channels, nor have they seen a black and white TV.

16. They have always had cable.

17. There have always been VCRs, but they have no idea what BETA was.

18. They cannot fathom not having a remote control.

19. They don't know what a cloth baby diaper is, or know about the "Help me, I've fallen and I can't get up" commercial.

20. Feeling old Yet? There's more:

21. They were born the year that Walkmen were introduced by Sony.

22. Roller skating has always meant inline for them.

23. Jay Leno has always been on the Tonight Show.

24. They have no idea when or why Jordache jeans were cool.

25. Popcorn has always been cooked in the microwave.

26. They have never seen Larry Bird play.

27. They never took a swim and thought about Jaws.

28. The Vietnam War is as ancient history to them as WWI, WWII and the Civil War.

29. They have no idea that Americans were ever held hostage in Iran.

30. They can't imagine what hard contact lenses are.

31. They don't know who Mork was or where he was from. (The correct answer, by the way, is Ork)

32. They never heard: "Where's the beef?", "I'd walk a mile for a Camel," or "De plane, de plane!"

33. They do not care who shot J.R. and have no idea who J.R. was.

34. Michael Jackson has always been white.

35. Kansas, Chicago, Boston, America, and Alabama are places, not bands...

36. There has always been MTV.

37. They don't have a clue how to use a typewriter.

Gee....I hope you can still have a happy day....
