Do you really think we should repeal our immigrations laws in toto? Judging from your views on this thread and elsewhere, I'd be interested to hear if you believe the U.S should have an "open door" policy and allow any one who wants to walk into this country to live here without fear of government removal.

He goes home and reapplies for the visa. Is that too much to ask of a law abiding person?

I agree with you wholeheartedly. Clinton would have been lambasted by the idiot likes of DeLay, Hastert, Armey, and Hyde. What's even more ridiculous is Rep. Hyde was the same person preaching for the rule of law on the House Floor back in December 1998 when defended his reasoning in wanting to impeach Clinton. In closing, many of these so-called conservative Republicans who voted for this bill are the same people that go around crusading like a bunch of do-gooder Christians.

nobody is arguing for that. This is a special case where people who have connections to the US and filing with the govt should get amnesty. If you try to come here by hiding in the back of the bus then forget it. But sigh...I didn't want Elian to go back to Cuba either

Folks this is a pure and simple business deal. We are short workers to support the baby boom 's retirement programs. Mexico, being Catholic has 70 million people under age 30. We've aborted about 40 million since 1973. It's purely and simply an issue of "you can't have your cake and eat it too". NOT to do this will cost the Western Hemisphere more in terms of the consequent social unrest on both countries than doing it.

I'm not a racist. I believe illegal immigration is wrong on principle. The fact some people use opposition to it to make bigoted views acceptable doesn't mean the rest of us are wrong in thinking its wrong for foreigners to abuse this country's hospitality and welcoming spirit by breaking its laws to get here.

that doesn't really work because someone would have to pay for their retirement too

Don't you know that they just love saying the "world is ending" in every other sentence.

Its too bad. If the INS did its job in the first place an amnesty measure would be completely unnecessary. I should clarify here that I mean keeping them out altogether in the first place.

Do not forget this between now and November! E-mail or write your Congress Critter and tell 'em what you think, and that you'll vote against them in November if they voted against you last night. My rep voted NAY on this criminal bill, so he'll be getting a thank you e-mail from me today. It's time to jerk chains, folks.

Do you remember Puerto Rico day parade? Do you remember all the third worlders attacking and assaulting all the young women. Yes I do and you are saying that the St. Patrick's Day parade doesn't have it's share of drunkeness and criminal behavior?
I am not going to paint with a broad brush different ethnic groups, like you are wont to do.
