I wonder how much they can afford working all those sweatshop jobs at less than minimum wage?THEY are being exploited as well.

This argument won't be solved here. Perhaps it will at election time.

Nope the arguement won't be solved by demagougues whose only arguement is "kick the bastards" out and put their head in the sand that we share a 2000 mile border with Mexico.

Also major efforts should be made to help economies south of the border.

So they need all these hard working people more than we do, right. If they're such a valuable asset, why is Fox trying so hard to get rid of them?

They are hard working and help the economy. Great. Then why not return them to the country of origin from whence they left illegally, so they can endulge in nation building and improve their economy through their hard work and industriousness.

Like it or not they help the economy. These people after a day of cleaning toilets, working out in the fields, and working in searing heat putting roofs on buildings, go out and buy food, clothes, and other consumer goods.

Why are you determined to ignore the government's own data, which indicates illegals are a net drain on the economy?

The immigration portion of the bill would extend a deadline for giving **hundreds of thousands** of illegal immigrants the chance to apply for residency without leaving the United States. Many of those immigrants are here on work visas that have expired, but they did not leave the country, officials said. **WHO is going to TRACK these people?

That's exactly right. The INS has ZERO credibility in monitoring, tracking, and controlling immigration as we were again reminded of yesterday. Only the naive could think that the INS is going to be suddenly competent in processing green cards for this horde of illegal aliens many of which are quite experienced in gaming our system. This is especially true with Ziglar at he helm. The long-term track record of the INS is one of abject failure.

Oh, we couldn't also have a brother-in-law come to the United States who had commenced the legal procedures and excercised patience and RESPECT FOR THE LAWS OF THE UNITED STATES to be admitted as an immigrant, could we? Shame! /sarcasm

You are correct but you completely miss the point.

While immigrants do contribute to the GDP they are absolutely overwhelming our domestic infrastructure, particularly in boarder states. The problem is sheer numbers.

Because of these number their prescence is absolutely drowning social safety nets and the public services sector of state and local governments.

Aggravating the situation is the fact that immigrants in these boarder states pay little of no property or income taxes which is the backbone of essential services financing.

Because of these numbers our society no longer has the ability to assimilate (indoctrinate) these masses and we are left with a mulicultral enviornment and all the baggage that accompanies this circumstance.

"I wonder how much they can afford working all those sweatshop jobs at less than minimum wage?THEY are being exploited as well."

Don't worry. The aclu and many of "our" reps. will be screaming about it before the ink dries on their citizenship papers. Legislative handouts, unionization, higher mandatory wages, health benefits, and more tearing this country apart will follow.

By the way, it was precisely the strategy of the White House and their Hill handlers, to slip in something dangerous into a bill that had elements of positive things.

What is dangerous about knowing who these people are. Is a terrorist going to "come out" of hiding to get a green card?

Yes the INS is a mess, but that bill passed yesterday would increase their funding and personnel and you have to remember that there was 96 month timetable where Clinton had his imprint over the INS.

Yep, they do. They just don't GET it.

If they're such a valuable asset, why is Fox trying so hard to get rid of them?

Because they aren't of pure Castillian descent--most are mestizos (Spanish and Indian mixture), and all of them are NOT from the priveleged "first families" of Mexico. There's a lot of racism in Mexico.

Well it takes one to know one, doesn't it.

I was going to use a Clark Griswold quote from the movie "Vacation" quote to describe your reply #226, but this is a family forum and will abide by the rules.

I totally agree with Colorado Rep. Tom Tancredo, this bill rewards immigrants who violate the law. Period! Especially when you consider the current state of affairs, I refer to America being at war with international terorrism. Under normal circumstances, perhaps the immigration process could be speeded up and some exceptions could be made.

But for the most part, this is a bad bill and very bad timing, on the part of the Bush administration.

Pathetic. Keep trying though. It's fun to witness your implosion. :-)

Dane's imlosion has been going on for days now. At first it was fun to watch, but it has become tedious and a bore. I bypass each message it writes, but it seems as if every other message is someone responding to him.

If this is a "MASSIVE MEXICAN INVASION," you already know the solution. Your refusal to entertain said solution is quite telling.

I've gone on record numerous times here on FR with the needed tough actions to roll back illegal immigration. Unfortunately it takes courage and commitment from our so-called leaders, which sadly is lacking today. But for starters I would instruct all law enforcement in this nation enforce the immigration laws ALREADY on the books. I would put the military on our borders. I would give whatever resources the border patrol and INS needs to do their jobs. Companies hiring illegal aliens would be penalized to the extent that it becomes uneconomical to employ illegal help.

If you want further details on what I think is necessary to combat illegal immigration go to my FR site and find last post to Miss Marple about a week ago.
