"establishing a Republican majority in the Senate"

There is your key. The fact is we need a more conservative government. How do you make it more conservative? The obvious answer is you make it less liberal. How do you make it less liberal? Vote out the Democrats. After you get the worst of the socialist lot of the Democrats replaced, then you can make it more conservative yet, by eliminating the worst of the lott of the Republicans. May sound dumb, but it's the only way. In other words, you're gonna have to make government a whole lot more Republican before you can make it conservative.

Yes but many think that wining is a bad thing and are more angry at the GOP than the Democrats. Conservatives are famous for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

That is it, in a nutshell. Now, if ONLY the more radical FReepers and one issue FReepers would wake up to tis fact, all would be well.

Your statement makes sense to me.
Only other solution I can see is a HUGE influx of conservative Independents elected.
But that isn't going to happen in our lifetime.
I'm still a registered Independent but it would take a really bad Republican to get me to vote for a Democrat.

Mr. Robinson..

Honestly, many of these people may as well be Democrats.

I mean, for all practical intents and purposes they are selling us down the river.

I think the only way to win government is through the media.

Put enough pressure on any of these serpents and they will bend your way.

Short answer: Any one who's a true blue conservative and NOT a RINO is a Republican.

If you make the whole government conservative it will be run by liberals.

A GOP Majority in the Senate will have them beholden to do everything they can to keep 'moderate' members from defecting. Moderate Republicans are about as good as Democrats, RINO's are as much the enemy as Dems'.

I agree with your post #2 for the most part, but I wonder...how do we ferret out the RINO's
(like Jumpin' Jim Jeffords or John McCain) before they get into office?
It seems like state Republican Committee offices are being run by liberal (infil)traitors
...and not just in VT...NJ and CA come to mind...

So why does the Republican Party work overtime to run in lock step with the Socialism of the New Frontier, Great Society and New World Order? The answer is obvious, the Republicanism has been removed from the party and has been replaced with a neo-conservatism sham that is a betrayal of America's tradition.

Jim, I have been an unhappy Republican for 40 years watching them get in step with the Democrats. I am fed up with their definitions of right and wrong. When are we going to follow the Constitution again? I will vote 3rd Party until I see definite changes in the House and Senate. They're lying to us Americans about everything that they do. I have never heard a Republican Senator admit that they are following Agenda 21 page by page, nor have I heard any of them ask for our help in stopping the NWO that was designed in the United Nations 60 years ago.

I must thank you for bringing all of these political crimes to the forefront on your website for America to see and discuss.

#2) " Vote out the Democrats. After you get the worst of the socialist lot of the Democrats replaced, then you can make it more conservative yet, by eliminating the worst of the lott of the Republicans."

Jim, the only problem with your solution is that political incumbents are re-elected 97% of the time. That gives us a 3% chance of executing your plan.

The only areas I see political success for our side is on the internet and on talk radio. If we continue to strenghten these two tools and concentrate our voting impact at the lowest local level (starting at the school board), we could begin to dent this beast...

In other words, you're gonna have to make government a whole lot more Republican before you can make it conservative.

Great theory, however in practice few Republicans can be considered conservative. And if conservative means smaller, less government, neither party represents this ideal.

you're gonna have to make government a whole lot more Republican before you can make it conservative.

I may have missed something, but it seems that the Republicans have been dancing in the blood of 9/11 for a police state every bit as much as we feared the libs would have. The Patriot act, federalizing airport screeners, floating national ID card trial balloons, opposing the armed defense of the cockpit, facial recognition cameras, etc. Then we have all of the appeals to the left and middle ground with "education reform" and an absolute immigration bonanza with our Latin American brethren.

Sometimes I wonder if the libs would have gotten away with it, but with "our guys" running a bigger and more intrusive gov't, we all say it's OK, as long as we get the SCOTUS stacked in our favor.

I say that you need more conservatives rather than RINO Republicans. Would the 104th Congress have been the way it was without The UNIBANGER in the WH? I think not.

It would take some convincing for me to see RINO Republicans as being any better than the dim-wit Left. Ashcroft is supposed to be a conservative.

But to answer the original question of "what makes a Republican a REPUBLICAN?"
It would seem from recent emperical data that a conspicuous lack of any vertibrate matter is the most common trait.

I have never seen so many, with so many winning issues, and so much support and so much money get shouted into submission by so few with so little and no winning issues. If you are going to be a Republican, you need a thick skin and some testicular matter - not some ex cheerleader, bag of hot yuppie air, who thinks that a slick hair cut and a "just pumped the cat look" is all it takes to lead.

Lizzie Dole for Senator??? Is there no one else in North Carolina? Honestly? That is it? What is her issue? Kittens and warm milk, flowered meadows and children laughing? If we are pinning our hopes of regaining the Senate on that empty suit, we have bigger problems than we can possibly fathom.

I, for one am not holding my breath. I don't think there are enough truly conservative Republicans left. The so called center of the political spectrum has moved so far to the left that policies that are considered far Right wing today would have been considered the loony left 50 years ago.
