What can be done about Daschle NOW!

First, Thank you all for the numerous responses to my last thread.

Several excellent suggestions were made, including supporting the Repub candidate running for Senate in South Dakota in 2002.

However, DumpDaschle.org seems to be focused on defeating Daschle when he runs again in 2004.

In my opinion that is too late, and doesn't make much sense anyway because Daschle is clearly running for the Dem Pres nomination and doesn't care about his 3 electoral vote home state.

My question is, is there something the 60% majority of South Dakotans can do to remove him from office NOW. Why should they have to put up with a Senator who is totally abandoning them in order to promote himself for national office?

Is there any recourse to "Impeach" a Senator?

"What can be done about Daschle NOW"?Probably nothing.Remember the big stink 2-3 years ago,where the smart people of Arizona got tired of John McCain being a RINO and not speaking for THEIR interests?They got TENS OF THOUSANDS of signatures, got the TV people talking about it and nothing worked.It appears once they're in office,they're there to stay , unless of course your name is James Traficant,where you have the Feds after you,and then you're doomed.Hell, even Torricelli is getting off w/out so much as a trial.......unbelievable.

The South Dakotan's representation in congress is certainly their issue, it's THEIR representation. Such a law would not change the rules for getting elected, like the 5' 9" example someone posted, it would establish rules for staying in office. If you are not even representing 41% of your state, what business do you have being their representative?

I don't see how this law changes the "rules" for Congress. It just allows the states to make sure their representatives stay loyal to them.

I think it would be a great law. As long as representatives stayed loyal to their states, they would have nothing to worry about. But if not, the people have a way of removing them and replacing them with someone who does represent them.

No, the representative could be voted out of office if the people of the state don't think he is representing their views anymore. Aren't the people entitled to representation? Can they control of a representative changes their spots after winning the election? No, but they should be able to control their right to representation. I think it would be a good check-and-balance provision.

You are not arguing the issue. You are saying the people still want him. If that is true, then Daschle should have nothing to be afraid of. However, if a politician thinks he has more to gain in seeking national office by abandoning his state because it only represents 3 electoral votes... then the people have a right to tell him otherwise. It's their representation that is sacred, not the particular representative's job. Do you have anything of relevence to say in this discussion, or are you just here to try and sell that Daschle's obstruction of a President his home state voted for nearly 2 to 1 indicates Daschle is adequately representing his state's views?

Sorry, but the people of South Dakota elected Daschle and he has not suddenly become a liberal. They knew who they were voting for when they reelected him two years ago. They made their choice and must live with the consequences

I don't understand what Bo is trying to say. In fact, I don't think they are really saying anything. Congress passes lemon laws for autos, right? Bo seems to be rying to argue that people have more a right to a car that works for them than a representative that works for them. I don't see anything in the Constitution that suggests that.

As attractive as that suggestion is from an entertainment standpoint, you understand I was looking for something a little more substantial.
