For many years the nickname of the Wahpeton, ND high school was the "Wahps". Then, to be PC, they changed it to the Huskies. I suppose if you combined the names you could manage to offend two identity groups at the same time.

On the subject of mascots and nicknames: I demand that the sportswriters and announcers use proper English in referring to the teams. In the case of Razorbacks, the girls' basketball team shall not be called Lady Razorbacks. All the Bulldogs, Huskies, Malamutes, Dachsunds, etc. shall henceforth drop Lady whatever and be referred to properly.
