I sincerely hope this issue does not become an acrimonious debate here on FR, turning us against each other.
I fear that acceptance of the Theory of Evolution puts some of us at odds with many people on this site who deserve our respect for their political views, the moral views, and their great contributions to this site and to our country.
I am sad that a difference exists on this issue that might pit conservatives against conservatives and I hope it doesn't get blown out of proportion here in FR.
We should all be willing to man the barricades "to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America" with any and all FReepers, without a second thought of how any of us perceives this Creationism/Evolution debate. This issue, while important in an academic sense, is truly secondary to the big issues of Individual Liberty in the USA.

Sam, I agree with you...it is sad that so many people just go nuts when someone mentions the G word. It's as though the people who are planning this museum have no right to spend their money as they see fit because they are...Creationists. Isn't that a little bit discriminatory? One law for those who think like me, and another law for the foolish, not one law for all?

Yes the ceationism debate is secondary to the great issues of conservatism vs big gov collectivism etc.; however, the creationists tend to get all consevatives painted with the same brush, lending credence to charge of ignorance and closedmindedness. In other word, they give conservatism a bad name. And the greater attention they garner, the more damage they do.
