Tonight on MSNBC's "Alan Keyes Is Making Sense" Keyes will debate the partial amnesty measure for illegal immigrants that's scheduled for floor debate and a vote tonight in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Should be a good one!

You are completely correct! My biggest fear is that this becomes a clearly partisan issue. If it does we're done for, because nothing will ever happen.

Note what Throckmorton is up against:
Cannon's older brother is Joe Cannon, chairman of the State Republican Party, chairman of Geneva Steel and a member of the Deseret News' board of directors
These guys are connected Mormons. The Church owns the Deseret News. Geneva Steel was the biggest employer in Utah County (Provo) until it ran up against international competition (connection to the recent steel tariff?). I don't think Cannon has any real beliefs; he's completely greed driven. He's doing this for Bush because of a deal.

Yes, enormous obstacles to overcome. But Spencer Abraham had everything going for him, including huge support from both his Arab constituency and from Silicon Valley corporations, along with Billy Boy Gates and still got defeated. You're right, it's uphill, but anything's possible. The vast majority of people don't support this nonsense, it just needs to come out more who's behind it.

BAD NEWS. I just got off the phone with one of Gekas' aides and he informed me that Gekas is voting FOR HR 1885 and that the oil bit with Mexico is merely an exchange of favors in return for voting yes on this treason.

What is the favor he is getting for selling out? Our good friend Mexico voted with the Oil Cartel and jacked up the price of oil for all of us.

Yup. I agree. I was thinking that if everyone here gets angry enough, and sends young Throckmorton $100.00, that's $10,000 for him. If Cannon were to go down in November to an up and coming REAL conservative, that would be a message.

People in Utah are real angry about the state being carved up by Clinton; what ever sleazy deal Cannon and Bush put together over the land (probably has to do with Peabody coal), I doubt they'll like either. And illegal immigration is still a big no-no to the ordinary folks in Provo. Provo may be the most conservative town I've ever lived near.

Agree that a wild card in the deck, makes the game more interesting-- and it's the only way to dredge.

By the way, I'm more convinced now that this is a complicated deal between Bush and Cannon for Geneva Steel:

Geneva files for Bankruptcy

I think Cannon's running the game for Bush in return for steel price protection so that Geneva can come back out of bankruptcy. In other words, all of them are selling us down the river for their own gain.

Shocking.

Also, note the comments about Cannon's weird behavior, and the lawsuit (maybe even criminal charges) over a sleazy business deal.

I got the same impression of Cannon. He comes off goofy and seems to typify all that is wrong in the GOP. A guy that puts personal interests and power before his constituency and country. Cannon would fit in well in the Bush administration. Maybe Throckmorton can force the issue.

I've been watching Fox all day, and they haven't mentioned this once. If anyone does, it will be Britt or orielly, but I'm not holding my breath. Looks like the words been sent down, the question is from who, the WH? Murdock?

There are so many Illegals there that they now have their own FM radio station on the air today (101.9) that serves that area. It appears that the politicians in Occupied Hall County don't give a flying leap about this. Of course, dominant European culture doesn't matter anymore like diversity.

I hope we don't neglect calling Tancredo's office and thank him for his efforts, encourage him to run for President, and laud his efforts on our behalf.

Hmm, what a surprise. The Yates verdict is going to be announced just as the house is getting ready to vote on this, more media cover for the house. I'm not a tinfoil hat wearer, but I am starting to wonder if I should measure my hat size.

Let me rip ya off a sheet of of my stash. A person has to be an idiot not to see that something is going on. We may not know what, but we do know who.

I just called and talked to my rep's staff, and they wanted to know why I opposed giving amnesty to those who entered legally, but INS did not process in time. I told them INS should be funded-- then they said "it's like throwing good money after bad" and I said, they can follow the law or else if they can't get an application processed, it's too bad. No amnesty for illegals!!! The guy didn't argue with me.

Faxed the reps. Anyone know if Charles Taylor (R-NC) was present today? I haven't had a reply yet.

Bush is definitely the pusher of all this. If we had a president leading in the other direction, Cannon would be irrevelant. So it wouldn't suprise me if back door wheeling and dealing is going on to get the votes and support in exchange for whatever Cannon and others want for their districts, or personal interests. This is exactly the kind of sleezy politics I used to see the liberals engage in all the time.
