The ultimate responsibility for firearm safety rests with the person who has his/her hands on the gun. But trying to make guns "PC" and absolutely safe is a fool's errand and will only lead to more of these incidents.

But, in todays litigious society, we can't let common sense like that get in the way of placing blame on someone other than who's fault it really is.</sarcasm>
