How did he manage to wound so many people before he got shot by a cop? Where are all those armed israeli citizens?

From the report I heard, the terrorist went into a steak restaurant full of young adults--probably about the same age as the kids who were killed in the disco last year (late teens, early 20's)--who had gone to eat after a night out. They may not have been carrying weapons or couldn't get to them fast enough.

It was in Tel Aviv. All those leftists and "Peace Now" folks. They were trying to hug him.

Looks like MSNBC will have some video this hour. Fox is stuck with Hannity, CNN with Larry.

Tel Aviv is serious. A lot, perhaps most, Israeli Jews don't care that much about terrorist attacks on settlers in Gaza and the West Bank, and the Ultra-Orthodox in Jerusalem.

But terrorist attacks in the Tel Aviv - Haifa area, and use of children as suicide bombers, might possibly toggle enough Israeli Jews into action mode for the Israeli govt. to finally take effective action.

Demidog,

Who is the victim here? It's like I've been saying. They have different ideas about an appropriate target.

They are waiting for us. WWIII is starting and the big dog gets to bite first. While Iraq and Iran are busy with the US, Jacob will be free to finally deal with the Palestinians. They are not going to start something big before we are ready.

Sharon: We'll hit PA until it begs for mercy By Gil Hoffman and Nina Gilbert JERUSALEM (March 5) - Negotiations with the Palestinian Authority cannot begin until the Palestinians are hit hard enough so they realize they cannot achieve anything through terrorism, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon told reporters at an impromptu briefing in the Knesset cafeteria yesterday. Explaining the security cabinet's decision Sunday night to intensify operations against the PA, Sharon said the IDF will hit the PA harder than ever and deal it blow after blow until the Palestinians beg for mercy in negotiations. "I want to conduct negotiations, but we cannot do that until the Palestinians are hit very hard," Sharon said. "They thought that by raising the level of terror, they could achieve more than on the diplomatic track. Now, they will have to endure many harsh blows until they see that they were mistaken." After a weekend in which 22 Israelis were killed, Sharon said that only with increased Palestinian casualties will the PA understand the necessity to crack down on terrorism. "In the current situation, it's either them or us," Sharon said. "We are at war and our backs are against the wall. I don't expect the PA to halt terrorism. They are terrorism. Arafat is the father of all terrorism." Israel is in a war against a "cruel, bloodthirsty enemy," Sharon added in an address to the Knesset, marking the 60th anniversary of Lehi leader Avraham Stern's assassination by the British. "The nation must not give up, even when the pain is terrible - and it is terrible," Sharon said. "We will win. It requires not only determination, but apparently some time. But I believe that in the end we will be victorious and there will be peace." Sharon told the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee that the Balata and Nur e-Shams refugee camps, where the IDF swept out terrorists over the weekend, served as bases for bomb-making and launching attacks against Israel. He said the PA never even entered the camps. After what he said were successful operations in Jenin and Balata, Sharon pledged to use the same formula in other camps, warning there will be "no place" where terrorists can operate without fear. Told of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's decision to invite Arafat and himself to Sharm e-Sheikh, Sharon said, "I'd like to come, but Arafat can't make it." "Today there is only one channel, and that's the security channel," Sharon said. "We don't have anything to talk about today." Asked what his own limits are, Sharon said Israel has not been given limits, by the Americans or anyone else. "But I don't want to go back to Nablus and head their department of Jewish education, or open up a branch of the Prime Minister's Office in Gaza," Sharon joked. The prime minister turned serious again when asked what would happen if the IDF leaves a refugee camp with substantial casualties. Sharon said the IDF is doing a good job of minimizing the number of casualties on both sides, and will continue to take all precautions during its operations to prevent harming innocent civilians.

LOL! Well, she's on the A honor roll right now, so even if she gets a big fat F I doubt it will hurt the overall GPA. She asked me what I thought and I told her I thought it was great!

I saw a picture of a four year old Palestinian boy lying down, training with an assault type rifle. This is so sad. These children are trained from birth to hate Jews and Americans. I'm sure the celebrations are going on in the streets of Palestine as we speak.

So thge M-16's were gifts of the Clinton admin. Makes me feel much better.

It is a real shame. I want to go visit Israel, but frankly I feel more secure in NYC (or I did until I heard of 10kt bomb).

Are tey sure it was not one the Galils that the Rabin admin gave to the Palies? I would tend to bet on bylined Israeli journalists on the scene getting it right much more likely than some US TV or radio newswriter getting the the report second or third-hand via the wire services.

And, of course, eventually, the photos will likely tell us for certain.

No Moslems, no terrorism.

Palestinian opens fire at Tel Aviv restaurant killing 3, injuring 26

By Haim Shadmi, Yam Yehoshua and Tamara Traubman,
Ha'aretz Correspondents, and Ha'aretz Service

A Palestinian gunman opened fire with an M-16 assault rifle at around 2:15 A.M. on Tuesday at two Tel Aviv restaurants, killing three people and injuring 26 others. Two of the injured were said to be in serious condition, and two people sustained moderate wounds.

According to initial reports one of the clients in the Seafood Market restaurant, which is located on Derekh Petah Tikva, a main Tel Aviv artery, shot and killed the gunman.

Police said the gunman opened fire at the Seafood Market and at Mifgash Hasteak, a nearby steakhouse, and that after he ran out of bullets he pulled out a knife and began stabbing people. Police also said the gunman was wearing an explosive belt which did not detonate.

"He also apparently tried to throw a grenade, but it did not explode," Tel Aviv police commander Yossi Sedbon told Israel Radio

Eyewitnesses said the attack had been carried out by two terrorists, but there was no confirmation from the police. Security forces, however, closed off the area and launched a search for a possible accomplice.

Seventeen of the injured were evacuated to Ichilov Hospital. The rest of the wounded were taken to Tel Hashomer Hospital and Beilinson Hospital, in Petah Tikva.

The Qatari-based Al-Jazeera reported that the Al Aqsa Martyr's Brigade, a militia associated with Palestinain Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat's Fatah party, took responsibilty for the attack.
