I forgot to make an important point that I've been meaning to, for quite some time. I wanted to set the record straight about Christians in India. Whether you know it or not, the work of many Christian missions in educating, healing and sheltering the poor and the needy in India is GREATLY appreciated by all. Many educated Indians are acutely aware that they owe a great debt to the Christians who made these things possible.

I cannot explain the anti-Christian violence that occurs, albeit rarely and in rural areas, from time to time -- there is NO way (nor should there be) to justify it. However, Christians in urban areas and for the most part get along just fine with their Hindu/Muslim neighbors. Go to Mumbai or Delhi and you will find entire sections of the town lit up during Christmas, annual fairs on the birthdays of Saints, and even Hindus going to churches to seek blessings. Please do not equate Muslims in India with the Christians as being "allies against the oppressing Hindus" -- nothing could be further from the truth.

I cannot explain the anti-Christian violence that occurs...

"These Hindu Heathens have their idols and their superstitions, their idol-bearing temples and shrines, where they conduct their noisy and foolish rituals and ceremonies. They generate a lot of evil. They are totally ignorant that Jesus Christ came to overcome death."

Can you really imagine Muslims tolerating such things being said about Islam? Now, substitute Christian for Hindu and Krishna for Jesus Christ in the quoted paragraph, and imagine how long before wacked out folks in America would last before resorting to violence if roles and countries were reversed.

The new type of Christian missionary in India is not anything like a Mother Teresa, who was loved and revered. Still is.
