PARIS (Reuters) - A French criminal court said Tuesday it would try Internet company Yahoo! Inc. and its former president for allegedly condoning war crimes by allowing the sale of Nazi memorabilia on Yahoo sites.
Former Yahoo! (YHOO: down $0.07 to $14.93, Research, Estimates) President Timothy Koogle faces a maximum sentence of five years and a 45,700 ($39,800) fine if found guilty -- a verdict that could have broad implications for international free-speech rights in the Internet age.

This is a joke, right? What do they expect? If they find him guilty, will they ask the USA to extradite him? The only bad thing is that he won't be able to travel to Europe anymore. OH NO!
To: MWS
This has to be extortion through the legal system. Why didn't these people sue the French ISP(s) which allowed web surfers to access Yahoo.com? They would actually have jurisdiction if they did that. This is just pure non-sense.
To: John Robinson
Your first statement is on the money - this is not about legal niceties, this is about imposing values on the rest of the world. I suggest we all make our views on this known to our own government, and tell them to give the Frogs the finger.
As soon as someone decides this is a hate site, that next extradition warrant may be for YOU, my friend...
To: MWS
I thought the French would want to fondly reminisce about their last big surrender.
To: MWS
Oh, for heaven's sake, just bring one of those "daggers" into court and the judge, clerk, and baliffs will surrender.

I would venture to say that these guys are toast and will be quickly found guilty.
Why not? After all, in France, a doctor can be sued for not aborting a disabled baby and then be forced to pay for its care.

The same french a-holes that condone the Palestinian's actions?

Time to start a movement to boycott France. They have been trying to do that for years in England.
.
They're still trying.
To: moyden
I could have sworn we already had one (should have, anyway)...

The court ruled Tuesday that French law still applied to English-language sites and said it would hear allegations Yahoo was inciting racial hatred by allowing French surfers to buy . . . Stuff in English.
By the way, after you get past the make up and fashion, French women are ugly.

"By the way, after you get past the make up and fashion, French women are ugly."
Not only are they ugly, but they walk around with their hands up in the air all the time.
What's up with that??

That's so the ashes don't land on their finger nails.
French women: All dolled up, but never dolls.
