If President Bush can chum around with the leftist likes of Teddy Kennedy, it shouldn't be too surprising that first lady Laura Bush is getting cozy with Sen. Hillary Clinton.
The odd couple joined forces today with Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas, to plug a pet cause: recruiting teachers from other professions.
Keep an Eye on Your Jewelry, Mrs. Bush
"The event at a Washington elementary school was the first time the two women had promoted a favorite issue together. They greeted each other warmly, Clinton at one point admiring a ring Mrs. Bush was wearing," the Associated Press reported.
"I believe teaching is the greatest community service of all," Mrs. Bush said at the event.
Hillary said the program could take a cue from the U.S. Army and adopt the slogan "Uncle Sam Wants You to Teach."
"I have no doubt there is a tremendous untapped pool of potential teachers," she told an audience of "teachers and fidgety third- and fourth-grade students."

recruiting teachers from other professions.Yeah... I'd take a 75% pay cut, or more depending where I would teach, to become a teacher. The rules regarding teachrs pay are ridiculous. If you are an engineer with 20 years experience and decide to teach math, say High School Calculus, you start at the pay level of a fresh out college graduate. Who cares if you can impart a lot more knowledge regarding how the math is used in "real" life, etc. Who cares how well yo umight teach. Pay is strictly based on how large your butt gets over the many years of sitting behind that teacher's desk. I think that is teacher's union rule number 1089(a) subparagraph iii.
Side note... With Hillary involved it can't be about what it says it's about... Run Laura! Run!!! Get away!!!

I saw the picture on an earlier thread and I thought Mrs. Bush must have on a pair of shoes with solid heels because the awful one looked like she was about to knock her over to get in front of the camera. Laura wins again.

That is, fidgety third and fourth graders squirming to get closer to the smelly kids.

Imagine being a doctor and wanting to teach science, but being turned down since a teaching certificate is required.

Hil to First Lady ... I'll take it off at the wrist if I have to.

Exactly! I've got more math in me, from theory to applications, than most high school teachers will ever know. But let me teach and be paid as if I were older than 21. No way! I would have to get a Masters in teaching then get certified to teach. I've already got one masters. The govt. rules for govt. schools are what keep new good teachers out.

hildebeast to Laura: "Ooh, Leslie. I just LOVE that ring. Where did you get it?"
Laura: "Uh, actually it's Laura. The ring is called a wedding ring. It's usually given on the day a woman and man pledge to love, honor and obey each other."
The beast: "Oh, right...honor...love...o...say, Linda, gotta go. Let's do lunch sometime, I'll call you, just as soon as I get some free ti...." (fades away)
Laura: "Actually it's Laura...."

So they want to recruit teachers from other professions. Well, I guess Hillary has the brothels and interns covered.

Should we start the rumor that Her Royal Hindass has left the Democratic Party? Hope the REAL First Lady doesn't trust her!
