With Simon about to pull the big upset next week, there will be massive media coverage of this joint appearance of the GOP's two new rising stars.

FREEPERS need to show up at these events and show the world we were Simon's first and biggest fans!

I'm going to try to make both the Sacramento AND San Francisco events. Watch for me and my sign on the news Monday night!!

Uh, Dan, aren't you going to tell us about the price for anything other than standing on the sidewalk?

These are political rallies. Price of admission is a hoot and a holler -- lots of hoot'n and hollering is preferred.

I really wish I could be there. I hear Simon's latest ads are doing well and that he is closing in on his first Democratic opponent, Richard Riordan.

Unless I am mistaken, these are fundraisers, Dan, with an average price of $1,000 bucks a head. As far as I can tell, the hooting and hollering is for those who get to stand at the door. Do you want me to post the email was sent by the Bill Simon for Governor email alert?

Here's a clue...

Paid for by Bill Simon for Governor Committee FPPC #11233475

There is nothing wrong with asking people to stand in front of a fundraiser. It looks good for the cameras and that helps the candidate. What I expect as a minimum standard at FreeRepublic is to tell people the WHOLE purpose and nature of the event. If that isn't communicated clearly it isn't the whole truth. Further, those FReepers who might wish to attend and pay for the meals should be offered the opportunity so that they know how to dress and to bring their checkbooks.

Don't you want more paying attendees?

Monday, February 25th

At:

McClellan Jet Services

3028 Peacekeeper Way

McClellan (Former McClellan AFB)

2:15 p.m. This one looks FRee to FReeping attend. If the Simon Committee pulls a fast one and locks-out supporters, FReepers will turn and run as fast as they can get away-- bait and switch does not work for me, either. I have no opinion about the others, but suggest calling the phone numbers and asking. Fool me once, shame on you,... No second chances.

Credibility is the most important thing Bill Simon offers that distinguishes him from Bill Jones. The taint of anything less than complete forthrightness will hurt him terribly by showing him to be just another politician. That would dim the enthusiasm of his supporters and consequently divide his support to Jones, especially here at FreeRepublic where word gets around like lightning. We can't let the ambition of Simon's campaign staff do that.

Ends do not justify means because NO ONE selects an "end" except as a means to something else. (It was Aristotle who first said that BTW.)

I got both the notices you are talking about. If I read this correctly there is a fundraiser with Giuliani and Simon. But this announcement is for a separate pep rally at the old McClellan airport for Giuliani and Simon. I love airport rallies - they always seem to have the largest and most excited crowds for some reason!?! LOL!

Has Giuliani done rallies like this open to the public for any other Pubbies in the country that you are aware of?

I still am in shock! We got Cheney here the other day for a Doolittle event but he didn't even get out of the Limousine and talk to any supporters or the press - just the paid donors inside.

This could be huge news having Giuliani pimping for Simon in little ole Sacramento!!!

It's obvious that this is an invite for a rally. I didn't think it was anything but a rally when I got it via email yesterday.

But, if anyone has any questions, call the campaign.

Go Simon!

I've got the campaign mailing right here, and it clearly isn't a fundraiser. It looks like a good old-fashioned whistlestop rally, with Bill Simon and Rudy Giuliani running up the state and stopping to rally the troops.

These type of events are pretty good. I guess he's starting at San Diego first thing in the morning, then going to Newport Beach, then to Sacramento, and then finishing up in San Francisco.

I'll be going to the Sacramento event myself...

Hey, I'm going to try and attend, but I've been swamped with business out of state. I'm back for a few days and then going again ... sounds like it'll be fun! I haven't been to a good rally since the pro-war rallies back when I was living in Los Angeles in 1991.

I just filled out my ballot and my wife's taking it to the post office on Monday. I already voted for Bill Simon! Have you?
