**BORN OF FREE REPUBLIC**
FreeRepublic Network ^ | 2/22/2002 | BadJoe

FROM BAD JOE:

There comes a time when Americans with a great idea have to stop talking and start doing. The Free Republic forum has been the most fun I've had with my clothes on in many, many years. Through the Free Republic I learned I wasn't alone. Through the Free Republic I have gained so many really good, like minded friends, and a family I thought was forever lost.

We have have had a great time. We gathered together in DC for the "March for Justice" and shocked the world. We held the "House Managers Dinner" and Shocked the politicians. We jumped on the 2,000 election's aftermath with Registered's 'Sore Loserman" sign and shocked our own lethargic people. The time has come to shock ourselves.

What is now the FreeRepublic Forum will never change. For it truely is the "Liberty Tree"" we gather under. We have grown from a mere 1700 Freepers ( when I first signed on four years ago), to 78,000

In four more years we will be nearly four MILLION. I don't know where our end of growth is, but having two out of every three voters a Freeper by 2008 is very definetely in the realm of possiblity. (Who'd have thought we grow nearly 5,000% in just four years).

We have gone from a budget of $2,000 per month to $22,000 per month, and we raise it easily, "VOLUNTARILY'. This in an increase of 1100 % For damn sure we are getting our money's worth.

Now the Free Republic Network is born. The Free Republic Network is the logical outgrowth and next step in the life of the FreeRepublic forum. It has big ideas to "DEFUND the LEFT", neutralize the "Liberal Media", and restore this beloved "Republic", our United States of America. Don't you dare think we can't do it. Look from whence we have come in just four years.

The Network is functioning with a tight corporate stucture. All the whereas's etc. glaze my eyes over, but the corporate types on board are very capable and steel eyed in their determination. The Network needs $350,000 in the next year, but only $50,000 in the next 90 days. The plan is to raise Network funds from American Companies and institutions, but it needs a jumpstart. Any Freepers with the vision may want to help. If so click on the eagle's head logo.

I hope I have made the Network more understandable to you. It is not a replacement for our forum. It is the birth of a baby eagle, May it fly high and proud.

"Welcome to the discussion forums of the Free Republic Network, a grass roots organization fighting for a return to constitutional government through research, education and activism."

The absence of the word "Conservative" is conspicuous and disconcerting.

We can look into that but I believe the original thinking was that the phrase "a return to constitutional government" implied conservatism.

I hate that punk. I hope you guys keep the fire in the belly and take him down next time. I would love to see Bush campaign for a McShame challenger. Someone like JD or Matt Salmon.

It does to you, me and the vast majority of FReepers. But, it seems there are some out there that have to be reminded of it in no uncertain terms.

The slogan of the Network is "The Front Line of Conservative Activism".

Great slogan Bob!

I was struck the absence of the word "Conservative" in the greetings statement because of how many times I had to cut and paste the following to remind a poster just where he or she was.

Welcome!
Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web.

You make a good point. Sometimes we take for granted people will know we are conservatives. We'll try to get it in as often as possible!
