Castaneda: 'It's the Whole Enchilada or Nothing'

George Putnam
Friday, Feb. 15, 2002

It is this reporter's opinion that one must look behind the change of government in Mexico to seek the real power.

After 70 years of corruption and tyrannical rule by the PRI, we welcome President Vicente Fox. But let's take another look. Is America negotiating away her sovereignty?

I look askance at Fox's foreign minister, Jorge Castaneda, and his brazen statements. At a meeting of Latino journalists in Phoenix, Castaneda made it clear that he would brook no compromise.

Looking American journalists squarely in the eye, Castaneda said, "It's the whole enchilada or nothing; we can't slice it one piece at a time."

What is it that is included in Castaneda's list of demands? Basically, he wants a complete surrender of U.S. sovereignty over immigration policy.

America must legalize all Mexican illegal aliens, loosen its already lax border enforcement, establish a guest worker program in the midst of an economic downturn, and exempt Mexican immigrants from U.S. visa quotas.

Not only that, but also the demand that Mexicans living in the U.S. receive health care provided by the American taxpayer and in-state college tuition.

Speaking in Tijuana, Castaneda became even more bold; he aptly described such demands with this statement: "We must obtain the greatest number of rights for the greatest number of Mexicans in the shortest time possible."

Mind you, Castaneda is referring to rights for Mexicans in the U.S. – NOT in Mexico!

Perhaps we'd understand Castaneda better when we reflect upon some of his statements when he was identified as a Marxist. He wrote in his book "The Economics of Dependency," "Democracy is in absolute contradiction with capitalism."

Castaneda is quoted as saying, "Vicente Fox is exactly where he wants to be on open borders, setting the agenda in Washington and Canada."

And he added, "These are not negotiating proposals; these are big ideas – a vision – some will fly, some will not. I learned from him that he will bring a new emphasis to overseeing Mexico's 50 consulates in the U.S. and will try to insure better treatment of Mexicans living in the U.S." – the same Mexicans who send billions of dollars home every year.

"Castaneda's attitude and writings have been fairly anti-U.S.," says Roger Noriega, senior staffer on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. "Inasmuch [as] Mexico's relations [with] the U.S. [are] so important, we are hoping for someone in the Foreign Ministry who can play a constructive role in that relationship."

Noriega adds. "Oh yes, that may happen, but it remains to be seen whether Castaneda can put aside his anti-U.S. prejudices and work with us."

Plain to see, Jorge Castaneda, Vicente Fox's foreign minister, has spoken. Will George W. and the rest of us take him at his word?

Our President has been strong in the fight against Middle Eastern terrorists, but, unfortunately, when it comes to our southern neighbors and the business people who enjoy exploiting the "illegals", he is squishy as a marshmallow.

This is pure insanity......he is demanding that we pick up the slack for Mexico and the fact that they have perpetuated FUBAR on their own citizens since Santa Ana is somehow irrelevant. Folks.....you think all these waves are going to be nice little Pubbies anytime soon...you're dreaming. We might as well just toss 'em the keys and move on.

Or, stated another way, he is rock solid - for the anti-American privileges of those who get rich off of the continued degradation of American sovereignty and the dilution of American nationhood. Let's not accuse Bush II of having no principles in this area - it's just that his principles are not entirely what most of his supporters would like to believe them to be. Self-delusion is not something which the left has a monopoly on.

Some of these consulates are suing American ranchers for driving illegals off their lands at gunpoint. But hey, nothing to see here - these people are the salt of the earth. Don't pay attention to the fact that my bro's father in law had to put BARS on his windows at his Tuscon house to keep the illegals (EXCUSE ME, I MEAN UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS) from stealing everything including the kitchen sink. And that was 15 years ago. He lives in a high rise now, and the there is probably a small depression in the ground where the house once stood.

I guess that at some point, a lightbulb wnet off letting him know that he was living in a private jail.

This decision by GW in terrorism vs Mexico is very simple -The New World Order. This war in Afganistan was about OIL. Oil for the elites who create a war come in & take over the country, steal their resources. History has proved that in many situations. Mexico is nothing more tha cheap labor for them & destablement of the US. As soon as they fullfill their social agenda in the US the One World Order is totally implemented. Remember these people buy governmentsT they have done so in this nation. Try getting elected or in a high position w/o joining their group & endorsing their agenda. GW is no different.

Mr. Castaneda can go to a very warm place-the quicker the better. Maybe our New Marlboro Man had better check his notes & reconsider his relations with the EVIL people from the Land to the South, the Land of Infinite Corruption, Drugs & Death-& Marxist Scum!

Friday evening, Dallas,Tx radio-talk show host is reasonably conservative, was shocked by the third or fourth caller, responding to 'immigration' topic. A FIFTH generation native Texan-a 'Tejano' ( with clear accent ) demanding a halt to the criminal invasion! If the Marlboro Man misses this-he is POLITICAL TOAST!

I already know they're the party of corruption.

It's my own party I'm worried about.

It is quite obvious to all but the most dense that any truly strong country would never allow another country to push us around this way. That Mexican tin stars can tell us, in our own country, what our immigration policies should be only shows how far America has slipped as a nation in protecting our sovereignty. What a disgrace.

And the way Bush is acting, I have to wonder what country he represents.

I am so outraged that I'm speechless. If Bush agrees to Mexico's demands, he'll be a one-termer. I sent this article to him just to make myself feel better.

He would certainly lose my vote.

"It's the whole enchilada or nothing"

Sounds reasonable enough. I can live with that.

So be it: nothing.

Now STFU and GFYS, Jorge.
