The Queen Mother is now so ill she is unable to eat.

A helicopter has landed at Sandringham as the Queen Mother prepares to travel to Windsor ready for the funeral of Princess Margaret.

As the helicopter landed the Duke of Edinburgh drove into Sandringham in a dark green Range Rover.

The 101-year-old royal was planning to travel to the Royal Lodge at Windsor despite cutting her arm in a fall yesterday.

The Queen Mother was said to be "very hopeful" of making it to Windsor for the funeral, despite cutting her arm yesterday when she slipped getting up from a chair in her sitting room.

Senior members of the Royal Family, including the Prince of Wales, Prince William and Prince Harry, are expected to gather at Windsor for the funeral service, which starts at 3pm tomorrow.

The Princess Royal is expected to return from America, where she is at the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, in time for the funeral.

Princess Margaret's coffin will be taken to Windsor later today.

Dean of the Chapels Royal Richard Chartres, who is the Bishop of London, and Sub-Dean William Booth, the Queen's domestic chaplain, will say prayers over the coffin as it is lifted by pallbearers into a hearse for the journey to Windsor.

Once at Windsor, the Princess's body will rest overnight in the nave at St George's Chapel.

Our present Queen worked as an ambulance mechanic in World War II. Prince Andrew and Prince Charles were both in the Royal Navy. Andrew served in the Falklands War on a ship that got blown up no less. The Queen Mum was part of the relief efforts during the Second World War. There is also the factor of leadership. Having a good King and Queen can do wonders for your morale in desperate times.

But go on then, it's easier for you to spout off in ignorance and bile than to reflect carefully, obviously. Read, learn, then come back and apologise.

PS - we have been British "citizens" for quite some time now - it says "British citizen" in my passport.

Americans don't have separate offices for Head of State and the actual political leader of the country. This can actually get you into trouble, considering how some people were reluctant to dump Clinton on his sorry arse because of merely respecting the office he held.

We are citizens, and have been designated as such for quite some time. Besides, you're distaste is based on nomenclature. People may be called "subjects" but does that mean Charles was using ius primus nocte on his typing pool? Of course not. Being a royal in Britain is to be in the most scrutinised position in your life. You can't even go down to the pub and have a quiet drink and not have it reported in the papers. Ask Prince Harry.

I'd turn around and ask you how much you enjoy paying for the lifestyle that your Senators, Representatives and President and their attendant bureaucrats get. At least the Queen now pays tax and not just on what she gets for the Civil List - she gets taxed on her outside earnings. How much of the perks that your representatives get are tax free?
