What I heard on the radio today is that the FRENCH judge told "somebody" that she was to "fix" the results in order to have the Russians win the pairs skating and in turn the Italians would "fix" the ice-dancing competition for the French to win.

What is it with figure skating? This scandal just might trump the Tonya Harding/Nancy Kerrigan scandal. These figure skating events are like soap operas. The WWF must be watching and envious of the storylines.

You have to understand something about the subspecies of Eurotrash beaureaucrat. This is better than Tonya and Nancy because it goes to the heart of a corrupt beauracracy (something that was there even at the time of Lillehammer-Tonya just provided the excuse for otherwise corrupt horsetrading judges to feel better about themselves). Anyhoo, this guy is your standard EU mandarin: "How dare you ask questions of me when you don't even know the procedures..."

This guy would last about thirty seconds in the Bush administration.

Hmmm. Vote-fixing. The FBI got involved in the Tonya-Nancy affair because interstate travel was involved. Any legal eagles here know whether the DOJ can get involved here?
