DJ FBI/Terror Alert -2: Attack May Come Early As Tuesday

WASHINGTON (AP)--The FBI issued an extraordinary terrorist alert Monday night, asking law enforcement and the American public to be on the lookout for a Yemeni man and several associates who might be plotting a terrorist attack as early as Tuesday.

The FBI scrambled to put the warning out after information emerged that one or more people were involved. Officials said the intelligence, while deemed credible, was not specific about possible targets.

The alert identified one possible attacker as Fawaz Wahya al-Rabeei, a Yemeni national born in Saudia Arabia in 1979. It listed about a dozen associates of al-Rabeei.

I wish, after the danger is over, if indeed there HAD been a thwarted attack, they'd tell us something. Just a bit, not much.

They cannot release information, lest the Bad Guys figure out where we're getting our information from. On the other hand, if all we ever hear are these alerts, well, it gets to be ho-hum after a while. I'd love to see announcements of arrests and thwarted attacks, too. That way, we know that they aren't jumping at shadows.

It's unfortunate that I don't know any Fawaz's I can't help at all.

But, if you're out there looking for this guy, remember it would be uncivil to focus your attention on men who appear to be of Arabic descent. Make sure you also look suspiciously at blacks, Jews, latinos, and finnish-looking people. And don't only look outside of Mosques. Check out Churches, Temples, and Synagogues.

Otherwise you might be guilty of committing a hate crime.

Agreed. Sadly, despite the citizens best efforts, the terrorists are getting what they want....a jumpy, panicky FBI and Homeland Security chief. The boy who cried wolf is in play here and the more of these type of alerts they issue the worse it will be.

Today's an election day in NYC. So was 9/11. It's also an "Area Code" day just like 9/11. I wonder if this played a role in the FBI's inferences.
