A Plague of Hate Sites

SEPTEMBER 11
A Plague of Hate Sites

Until recently, one of the biggest Internet-related worries for companies was employees who surfed the Web for cybersmut. Now, there's another concern: hate sites. The number of these venomous domains--which in the past featured gay-bashing, neo-Nazism, and misogynist rants--has doubled since September 11, to about 2,000, according to Websense, a San Diego software-monitoring company.

Growth is mainly due to a new niche: anti-Arab and anti-Muslim sites. Among them is crisis2001.com. Rich in racial epithets, it calls Islam "the scourge of the earth" and rallies to "nuke" them all. Another, you-got-mail.com, talks about "Satan's Muslims" and says it's "time to lock up the mosques and kick those dirty Muslims out." Others, such as nuke-kabul.com, are anti-Afghanistan and anti-Osama bin Laden in nature.

Employment lawyers say it's important for companies to remind workers of policies that bar viewing hate sites in the workplace. Warns Jennifer Kearns, a partner in San Francisco law firm Brobeck Phleger & Harrison: "Otherwise, you're kind of a sitting duck for a hostile- workplace suit."

So I suppose that you would have no objection to allowing your young son to go on over-night camping trips with a gay Boy Scout leader? I would never allow my young daughter to camp over-night with a heterosexual male leader for obvious reasons, so what is the difference? Yet gays have gone to war against one of our most wholesome, fundamental institutions so that they can be in a position to form young minds -- and go on overnight trips with these young boy scouts.

As for your statements that gays don't recruit -- why then are they so adamant about promoting their agenda in our schools to grade-school children? It is an outrage that anyone would try to teach my 8-year old granddaughter how two men can have sex!

So I hope you will keep this in mind the next time you have the opportunity to pass some city ordinance that give gays special rights. They have the right not to be fired for being gay, but they do not have the right to promote their agenda on the impressionable minds of the young.

And BTW, perhaps you should thank those bullies who picked on you for helping you to become the man you are. As the old addage says, 'hardship creates character'. Everyone gets pigeonholed in high school, myself included, and for most of us it was miserable. 5% determine which slot we belong in and the other 95% of us spend our next years trying to overcome whatever label we were given. But what doesn't break us, makes us stronger.

Bit of the old commonsense here, solid hit. I did empathise though with our friend and sent a private reply- well meant of course- yeah, the old five percent, hope they cheerfully rot in whatever jail they may have ended up in. LOL.

isn't it sad how words like hate, diversity, tolerance, etc should still mean essentially the same things they always did but their usage normally indicates something more far reaching. Nowadays when I hear those words my PC hackles usually stand on end.

"Discrimination" used to mean what every person does when they chose one thing over all others or exclude one thing from all the others. What soap to buy, excluding all others? What day to never go to the grocery store but include going on all other days? Which person to talk to? Which person not to talk to?

It is designed to make politics insane and make non-involvement attractive... Dont take the bait.

Yep. Just become a sheeple and when it comes time to vote; "we'll give you your opinion of who to vote for".

Constitutional republic foundations set aside...

Democratic process just means politicians skimming/extorting/taxing money off a host/parasite democratic process that they keep running. In other words, all they/parasites need do is continually come up with new or "improved" things to vote on. Then allow the public/hosts to vote on how effective they think the politicians are at coming up with new and "improved" things/stuff to vote on. So obviously, of course the government is always going to expand the leviathan.

Voting for the lesser of two evils always begets evil.

"If voting could change anything they would not let us do it." -- Comus

It's not the votes that count, it's who gets to count the votes that decides the winner.

"The main problem with American citizens is we can't get the tin foil hat on over our dunce cap. The government wants implanted chips, they will have implanted chips. It's for the children." -- steve50

No. The voting process is inherently flawed because of the political duopoly as you pointed out.

Other than that, the media, banking interests and the judicial branch control the real political agenda. (Who benefits by the perpetual debt of the US? Who benefits from international super-capitalism? Stockholders do, consumers do, but remember all benefits are relative. As the Beatles song goes: "One for you and 19 for me")

"Raising all boats" when you think about it for what it SAYS -- is as senseless as "giving everyone a million dollars", but what it MEANS is *Oz* gets a 10% increase in his power, and the scarecrow gets a 10% increase in his. But the water always seeks its own level.

A bird upon reaching the end of the crumb trail finds little consolation that his tummy is full when he realizes his head is on the chopping block. And thats precisely where our nations head has been for the last 70 years.

I have been mulling over how to reply with a list in light of Jim Robinson's policy thread about religion. I am of the Wicca faith, therefore I would be happy to give a private reply if you indicate that would suffice, but I am gun shy about that old "denied posting privileges screen" appearing if I look like I am slamming your faith.

"When the Constitution was written, there were only two religions within this nation, Judaism and Christianity."

I see.... Indians were just Godless heathens whose religions were not worthy of notice to you. I disagree. The Constitution was carefully framed to cover ALL religions. If it had not, then it would have specified those two religions.

People came to this land to get away from narrow minded view on religion. Like that which is displayed by you in your post.

Perhaps that explains your hysterical posts on this thread.

I have a son in his twenties, and I would have hired any gay or lesbian as a baby sitter in a heartbeat if he were still a child.

Pedophiles need helpless victims, male or female because the thought of sex with adults is intimidating. I wouldn't hire one of them, or want to see a pedophile as a scout leader.

However, homosexuals do not recruit, and they have sex with consenting adults of the same gender preference as they have. I see nothing wrong with them being leaders of a group like the BSA either.

As long as they are adults with a track record of running their lives ethically and are good role models, what they do in the privacy of the bedroom is nobody's business but their own.

"And BTW, perhaps you should thank those bullies who picked on you for helping you to become the man you are."

I am of good character despite the mind warping horrors of dealing with that b***ard. That guy cost me a great deal and set me back years.

And I am still not trusting of figures of authority in part from my experiences from all the way back then when I tried to get a administrator to help, and was asked if I did something to deserve being this idiot's pet whipping boy.

He would only slander me in the presence of his girlfriend to steal my social standing to boost his. He gave me a deep and immutable distaste for homophobic sentiments. So much so, I worked on the campaign against the Oregon Citizen Alliance's anti-gay initiatives.

And if they qualify another for the ballot, I will do the same. I guarantee it.

Islam is one of the world's major religions. It has good people and bad. It has insightful and questionable theology both. Much the same can be said about any other major religion in the world including Christianity.

Baloney! Religions (i.e. Christianity) do not advocate killing innocent people; Islam is a CULT. If it were truly a religion, Muslims all over the world would have condemned the 9/11 attacks. Had Christians perpetrated such an outrage, condemnation would have been swift and widespread.

"SODOMY SHOULD BE A CAPITAL OFFENSE!!"

Why am I detecting a strong whiff of the putrid stench of Reconstructionism in this quote?

Reconstructionists want to establish a theocracy and institute Old Testament biblical law as the law of the land:

"Indeed, executioners would be busy in a "reconstructed" society. North has called publicly for the execution of women who have abortions. Stoning, he has said, would be the preferable method because "the implements of execution are available to everyone at virtually no cost." According to Clarkson, Rushdoony, who is North’s father-in-law, also suggests the death penalty be used to punish those guilty of "apostasy (abandonment of the faith), heresy, blasphemy, witchcraft, astrology, adultery, ‘sodomy or homosexuality,’ incest, striking a parent, incorrigible juvenile delinquency, and in the case of women, ‘unchastity before marriage.’" Non-capital crimes would be sanctioned with whipping, indentured servitude or slavery."

-- Confederates in the Pulpit - America's Home-Grown Taliban.

It is more than a bit curious that these wing-nuts also think slavery was a wonderful institution. Reconstructionists? Unreconstructed neo-confederate LOSers is probably a more apt description.

Religions (i.e. Christianity) do not advocate killing innocent people

"People enraged by the war being waged in this nation against God's children will continue to engage in terrorist actions. Because the government of the USA has become a godless and apostate body, the people who rise up in arms against such idolatry deserve the name "The Army of God." So call them that."

"The Army of God not only will not be stopped until legalized abortion is repealed, but the Army of God will continue to grow in direct proportion to the energy this society exerts in trying to stop the growth of the Army of God."

"It is a vicious cycle you are going to see develop: society (pagans, Christians, Jews, Muslims, et al) will scream and rant about the terrorists bombing abortion clinics, society will thrash about trying to increase the legal protection for those who butcher babies, and the harder society works, the more individuals you will see rise up to do the work of the Army of God."

"May God give us the grace to arrest legalized abortion before this war destroys us all."

-- Neal Horsley, The Creator's Rights Party

"People enraged by the war being waged in this nation against God's children will continue to engage in TERRORIST ACTIONS."

Note that's the "Army of God" (G-d, or "Yahweh" to some) not the Army of Allah.

Modern advertising sucks.

Much of Madison Avenue is run by women. That's why you have only two main ad themes:
1) "Woman wins - Man loses" theme, and
2) "The Absent Male" theme (A family with only a mother and children).

The vice principal of our local high school was fond of downloading kiddie porn on his school office computer, the jerk. They got him for "stealing" from his employers -- the taxpayers. At least that's what he pleaded to. He got a suspended three or four year sentence, is estranged from his wife and family, and is out in a Minnesota clinic somewhere trying to get his sex problems straightened out.
