Strange. You'd think that the city would increase security.

"The only surprise is that these incidents are covered by the local media."I'm not surprised.
When evrything comes to a point, all rhetoric and PC goes out the window for basic survival.
If, indeed, what you have expounded on is correct, then the frightened population is gearing up for a Fed protection that might be in conflict with the aforementioned PCness.
And if that is true, then something is going to have to give ... laws changed or something.
Kalifornicatia may be succombing to old age and may soon give way to ...
dare I say it? ...
California.

6 blocks cordoned off. High tech operation. X ray equipment, package arrived at loading dock 9:15, computer enhancement. Wires coming out of it, strange looking writing, perhaps even a pipe bomb.

I want Fed protection. The pc jerks here don't care if we're blown up to smithereens.

You have to handle it. You can handle it. Going into a panic over something which you have little or no control is not a good idea. Hang in there.
To: knarf
ust a guess, but there may be some anti-gay people that feel the courage to outwardly do something.
Courage?!?? That not what I would call it.

We're neighbors. Nouge I am personally freaking out badly. I am having a panic attack.
It is very scary, but there really isn't much we could do except keep an eye out.

Unless you are at work and have no control over the radio, there is no excuse for listening to KGO. LOL.

Oh I know, but who else is talking about the bomb thing locally? This turkey on right now (who shall remain nameless) is advocation more immigration! What a JERK! Even though most of the callers (Bay Area) are saying NO MORE immigration period!

What exactly is it that you want the Feds to do to protect you?

I feel for you.
Instead of letting the anxiety use up all of your energy, direct it toward ANGER & READINESS instead. The only thing you can do is keep your eyes open and your head clear to be ready if anything does happen.
Be strong. We are, in fact, "fighting" for our lives now and must be ready to spring into action to save ourselves AND those around us. Each and every one of us is responsible for defending our country now!
I'm sending you {{{{hugs}}}} and a prayer for our collective strength and determination to DEFEAT OUR ENEMIES!!

I live in San Francisco, and I have joked for a while that San Francisco is the safest place in the country against terror attacks.
Why would bin Laden attack San Francisco, and risk losing whatever support he has left in the country?

--here's a thought, honestly offered. There's a big ole country out there outside the major socialist/bureaucraticlly run urban areas. Called flyover country. Chocl fulla real americans who aren't your steretyped "hillbillies". You might not make as much money if ya moved there, and then, it won't cost ya as much to live, either. sumpin to chew on there.

Actually they did cover it from Travis AFB (in Fairfield). They were there in under 2 mins flying @ 500 mph.
Furthermore, Hamilton AFB in Novato was closed, making the area closest to the Bay more vulnerable.
Isn't there a Naval Air Station near the Bay?

I'm certainly hoping SF doesn't get the summer olympics in 2012, or whenever it is supposed to be. It would not be good for SF (or any other city, for that matter, IMO). Security issues aren't worth the maybe revenue.
