This MORON should be shanghaid BIG time, this is the biggest load of crap that I have heard in a while.

I thought cops were trained in the proper handling of a firearm, if so, he ignored it.

I am trained in the proper use of a firearm, if I am, he sure as heck had better be. This shows me that A: the guy is a total incompetent, or B: has no respect for a firearm and what they are capable of.

I would trust my 6 year old daughter with a firearm more then I would him trust this buffoon with one.

WHAT A MORON!!!

And I teach my daughter that if a child has a firearm to get away and tell an adult, now I'll have to teach her that if she sees a cop with one to run away and tell an adult.

The officer was a mother of a boy in the class .. she came in to demonstrate and talk about her job

Many thanks for the update. I expected that this was some kind of PD sponsored outreach/meet the kids activity. But maybe it was just one of those show and tell-like "bring your parent to school" things - oriented not for police p.r., but to give children ideas about different occupations.

If true, very interesting in how the PD will react.

P.S. That must have been some scene in the schoolroom.

I think the cops ought to get out of the schools completely. The schools are passing their responsibilities onto the police. The 'children' know that the principal can't touch them. Now they will know that all the police can do is take you home or wait until one of the people who were responsible for their birth comes to pick them up. They rarely go anywhere else.

Heck, they'll probably make her Chief somewhere.

But it couldn't have been a Glock. They are impossible to make go off unless you touch the trigger!

Well, if it weren't for this forum, I actually would have been in that very mindset. They sound like they AD nightmares. Besides, I fired a .40 cal model at a local range, and I wasn't impressed at all. Now, the H&K .45 cal I fired was SWEET! Glock should take some lessons from that fine piece of machinery.

Seems like this school really has problems with guns......lol

Armed bus driver puts jolt in kids Posted on 2/5/02

A school police officer and part- time bus driver put a scare into a group of elementary school students yesterday when - in an apparent attempt to restore order among his unruly young passengers - yelled that he was carrying a gun.

But the driver's alleged conduct was deeply troubling to officials of the Germantown Settlement Charter School and Imani Charter School - the two schools for whom the man was driving the Atlantic Express bus yesterday.

As a Federal Leo, I think you are correct. That's why I spend numerous hours of my off time practicing. Some of my fellow officers scare the crap out of me the way they handle firearms.

The gun should have never come out of the holster.

1. Never point a gun at anything you don't intend to shoot.
2. Never put your finger on the trigger until you are prepared to fire.

You can't get more basic than that !!

Uhhhh, its my understanding that cops are not allowed to unholster their weapon for "demonstrations". Any LEO's or former ones are invited to correct me, but I believe there are rules against this.

While light double action triggers are fine (Para LDA, HK LEM, Glock), I prefer the DA/SA mode, where your first shot releases the "safety", and follow ups are more accurate.

Considering the huge amount of humans who handle weapons in the military and yes, even as FEDs :o) the number of accidents is minute. I hope that with this administration, and the massive effort for better "training", the people you work with will become better trained.

I also hope you mention to your superiors those who are inept at handling weapons. Otherwise.. that would make you "as" responsible. Wouldn't it?

My husband is a pilot..and works for the Feds too. He is bound by duty and the safety of others, to report any pilot he thinks isn't doing his job right.

So ya know... just some friendly debate here. I'm NOT flaming you at all. I believe in rational debate. I will be offline soon. So don't think I'm ignoring you if I don't respond to any responses you might make to me. If you do respond, I will get back with you.

FRegards!

The largest single group of cops killed is by other cops. Once again I call for all cops to be disarmed they are a hazard.... hope the kid is not permantly maimed.

Eyewitness News has learned that the gun of an off-duty police officer accidentally discharged Wednesday afternoon...

As I learned it, there are only two types of firearms discharges: deliberate and negligent. 'Accidents' only happen when negligence causes them.

And most of the victims of violent crime that had some other pistol won't be around to say how great their guns are, because they were killed while they were fumbling around with their safeties.

Jesse Jackson is sitting anxiously awaiting to hear if the child was black and the policeman was white.
