This just reported on Fox news. A 10 year old child in Pennsylvania was accidentally shot in the head during a school demonstration by an off-duty cop.
The child is expected to survive.
I heard this on the Fox news cable channel, saw nothing on the internet.
"A 10-year-old boy is being treated at Temple University Children's Medical Center for a graze wound to the head.
Eyewitness News has learned that the gun of an off-duty police officer accidentally discharged Wednesday afternoon during a presentation at Imani Education Circle Charter School. The school is located at 5612 Greene Street in the Germantown section of Philadelphia.
The condition of the child has not been released. Officials are still on the scene."
Police Officers go into the schools and teach the kids about their job ..
I am still amazed that he pointed the gun at anyone
HELLO
This particular model is designated .22/.45 due to the grip design which similar to a .45 semi-automatic. It is a bull-barreled .22 target pistol. A really nice shooter that will last forever.
I'll stick with my Browning HP.
The main glock safety is a trigger safety. That means your finger has to actually pull the trigger to defeat the safety-a sudden jolt won't do it, unless it somehow manages to pull the entire trigger http://www.glock.com/_safe_action_.htm
Glocks don't feature a manual safety (there are some, but were special made for certain police departments, iirc).
I personally prefer a semi-auto that also features a nice grip safety a-la a 1911, but it's not necessary. You could have 50 safeties built into a gun, but if you violate one of the four safety rules, you're still going to be out of luck.
It can't be blamed on the glock (if that's what it was). It was the officer's fault, 100%.
This is EXACTLY why NOBODY should have a gun. You just never know when one of them will go off all on its own...
Boy Nearly Shot in Head by Gun Accident
"A 10-year-old boy has suffered a graze wound of the head at the Imani Education Circle Charter School in the city's Germantown section.
Officials say the boy is in good condition and is expected to be okay. He was taken to Temple University Children's Hospital.
Authorities say an off-duty 9th District officer's weapon accidentally discharged during a demonstration at the school. An investigation is underway.
It happened around 3pm at the school at Chelten Avenue and Greene Street."
I guarantee it would have not have happened with my P7, you know damn good-n-well when that puppy is cocked!
The guns with the safety levers have problems too, because the untrained foolishly rely on the safety devices instead of safe gun practices. I remember reading about a LEO who shot someone who had surrendered and was being cuffed, because he used the hammer-drop safety while it was still pointed at the perp. Gun went bang. oooops
Our school district is the one with the mysterious rash.... now showing up in three different buildings..... one school is closed temporarily, but they haven't determined what is going on.....
