POLL: Pro-Life OR Pro-Abortion
FreedomFriend | 02/02/02 | FreedomFriend

Posted on 02/02/2002 10:51:56 AM PST by FreedomFriend

This is a simple question in which I want to gain insight. At least in terms of the opinions of the FreeRepublic population.

I'll tabulate the responses.

So what are you? Pro-Life or Pro-Abortion.

Morally, ethically, religiously, politically --- Pro-Life.

Pragmatically, legally -- not quite so.

As I've grown older and wiser, and as my faith in people has diminished, I'm afraid that legalized abortion is the lesser of the two evils.

Now, I'm for everything that can be done to encourage the mother to opt for not having abortion...but I believe that America would become an even worse place; that the very lives we are trying to protect would end anyway; and that that more risk and harm will be done to the mother if illegal abortions are the norm.

However -- I also believe that the states should be allowed to choose. If a state like Kansas, Iowa, Wyoming, etc. chose not to sanction abortion, then they should be allowed to kick out the abortion clinics and doctors.

(I know it's a "wishy-washy" opinion, but I'm too cynical to believe that society can function only one way, or the other.)

I'm PRO-LIFE all the way!

The only way to reduce abortions is to get ACTIVE! I frequently talk to people about having been pro-abortion back in 1974 and---after reviewing the FACTS about what the pro-lifers had to say---became PRO-LIFE.

Another way to help is to WORK for and ELECT PRO-LIFE CANDIDATES.

I have a friend who is solidly PRO-LIFE and running for TEXAS STATE SENATE DISTRICT 10. Her name is KAREN "KERRY" LUNDELIUS. Check out http://www.lundeliusforsenate.com

"and if the pre-born do not posess a mind".......

Do you mean their mind is not of such sufficient maturity that the pre-born can express their opinion on the matter? Surely you don't mean that the pre-born don't have a mind? They most assuredly do. My child was born at 30 weeks gestation, and I can assure you that she had a mind.....and a very strong will to live! And so did many preemies born earlier than my daughter.

"i don't believe life begins at conception."

So life begins.....when? 91 days after conception? 240 days after conception? Birth?

Why, life begins as soon as a fetus/baby/product of conception makes the magical passage through the birth canal. Somehow, an inanimate object becomes a human being as soon as the head emerges (completely) from the mother's woman's body. Right?
