If we do not get away from the lunacy that treats it as a positive thing to have everyone vote, regardless of qualification, we can count the days until our system is swept away by a demagogue who understands the art of mass manipulation. (See

The idea that anyone who can drive a car ought to be voting is too silly to treat as a serious proposal. It appeals to those who believe that virtue is determined by counting noses--whether infected, clean or dry, and regardless of what sort of brain is behind them--but it should not appeal to any serious student of the Twentieth Century.
