I heard on the Darrel Ankarlo show on KLIF radio (Dallas/Fort Worth) this morning that some students in Iowa are launching a letter-writing campaign to protest the actions of Dallas based Dr. Pepper. It seems on a recently issued can with a patriotic theme including a picture of the statue of liberty that they printed the Pledge of Allegience to the Flag in which they omitted the phrase "under God". When inquired as to the reason, the company representative said that there was not enough room. Anyone else hear this story?

And, this wraps around the top of the can, right under the rim.
When I first noticed, I too wondered why it left out "under God". After looking again, I realized that there wasn't enough room.
Good response.
Are any of the soda pop companies spiritual? I think they all run on a profit motive.
Being a true conservative, I didn't like the governments meddling in an already adequate pledge.. I like the original myself.Gotta agree with you here. Of course I'm one of those weirdos that think that a "pledge" should be voluntary, not compulsury. It reminds me too much of "1984" to have the state compel people to say they love the state. Love at gunpoint doesn't mean much, and all requirements of the state are ultimatly at gunpoint.
Me too, but the "under God" bit was added after I was born...
NEVER MIND.

It doesn't belong in the pledge in the first place, it was added by McCarthyites, not our Founding Fathers.
