I know several of you freepers love the Family Guy like I do, so I thought I'd let you know Fox plans on canceling it after next week! The last episode had the highest ratings in the time slot for Fox, but they still don't know what to do with it or something. Please sign the petition, or send a postcard. Thanks.

"Your lack of sense of humor helps us "Fam Guy Fanatics" greatly! We understand some of you don't "get it"."Then why don't you understand that for something to be funny it should actually contain something humerous? This show died long ago and I was amazed that they drug the rotting corpse back out for another try.
Maybe this time they'll bury it deep enough.

So what do you consider the tops in humorous television? Aside from CBS News, that is.

FamGuy is just as funny as ever. The thing is it dosn't evolve. It's still the same kind of stuff (with new variations) that it was originaly. But that's fine in my book!

Television is the work of the devil. True. And sometimes he writes some damn funny stuff. I also like his guest appearances on South Park. He and Saddam are quite the cutups.

I'm in my early 20's, and I think FG's humor lacking. The only episode I bothered to watch had just one good joke, involving Ted Turner fathering puppies.

So what do you consider the tops in humorous television? Favorites...
Seinfeld (the greatest of them all)
The Simpsons
The Tick
I Love Lucy
Blackadder
Monty Python
South Park
The Honeymooners
Married with Children
Newsradio
Saturday Night Live (in its prime)

save The Tick I thought you were talking about the cartoon -- try to catch it if you can.

You should try to get your hands on some copies of episodes of The Critic staring Jon Lovitz..the show only had 23 episdos but I'd say over half of them had at least 2 Ted Turner jokes and 2 or 3 shows focusing solely on the guy who was a parody of Turner...

Oh, I've seen it. The original comic book was pretty good too.
King of the Hill is only funny to those that are able to understand it. I honestly thought it would only make it one season since it is only funny to Texans. I LOVE King of the Hill. In fact I think I know every one of those people in real life. But...if you are from say Wisconsin, then I would think you would not get it at all.

"I just like The Tick because the actor playing Tick is so perfect for clueless deadpan."
For my part, I much prefered the cartoon Tick to the live action. The live action character is too morose; the cartoon Tick was overflowing with childlike exuberance.
Moreover, in the cartoon City, there was a need for the spectacularly inept costumed super(?)heroes whose HQ was the Diner. Who else could deal with the equally bizaare costumed villians?

Compared to Clerks, Family Guy was crap, but compared to what is on regular TV, Family Guy was pretty good. Note: The Tick also got cancelled, guess the networks need to figure out how to tune drivel for morons like "Runaway Bride" into a TV series....
Actually The Tick wasn't cancelled -- the episodes they showed this past fall/winter had actually been "in the can" for over a year. It wasn't nearly as good as it should be (I'm a fan of both the comic and the cartoon) but still had enough of the fun to make me enjoy it as just pure mindless entertainment.
Part of the problem was that Ben Englund lost a lot of the rights when he signed the cartoon deal (ironically with Fox)... but for whatever legal reasons they couldn't create characters like American Maid, Die Flader Mouse, etc...and so had to use knock offs, which never translated as well...
But...the show was not canceled! :)
NOT IN THE FACE! NOT IN THE FACE!!

I never bothered to watch it in the first place. From the commercials, it always gave me the impression of being one of those Dad is an idiot plots. There's no shortage of that kind of stuff. I'll stick with Hank Hill.

I'm from Alabama and I see plenty of truth in the KotH characters around here! It is hilarious!
