Question about Airforce SAR and SEER folks

I've got a fiend of a friend who is claiming to be AF Spec. Forces. He claims to be some sort of SAR troop, who has just returned form 'stanland with a taliban bullet wound in his butt.
I'm calling this as BS for a number of reasons. But wanted to make sure. The dude has two years in, and says he now trains survival skills to pilots, (S.E.E.R) would be my guess.
How long does it take to train for any Spec Ops force? Any chance that one has even receieved a flesh wound without being a media poster child? And, what is the MOS used to instruct SEER?
I appreciate all your (non-classified only) input.

All Air Force personnell currently undergo SERE training if they are to be part of a flight crew. It is usually done before posting to their first base and as part of their initial training once MOS school is over. Because of the current heavy use of the Air Force to soften up enemy positions before attack by our ground troops and to gather data, the flight crews are at increased risk of being shot down and captured while over enemy territory. Captured crews have had an excellent reputation for dealing with the experience and coming through it a whole person. This is due primarily to the excellent and very realistic SERE training they receive. I have a son on an AWACS crew.
