As a main man in GW's escort service, trailing closely behind him...does Daschle have to throw down his life for our President if someone takes a shot? (^:

I'm with you. I'd give it a B. He had an A going until he got to his "laundry list". Unfortunately most of that laundry list was comprised of a bunch of social programs. Very disheartening. But, all in all it was a positive speech.

Agreeb - B+
He started great but went into the rambling shopping list and that weakened the whole effect. Oh well, he's still a great President.

DASH-HOLE must stand BEHIND the President, like the dutiful dweeb he really is.

Well said. Most everyone here is talking about how the Rats hate this speech. Well . . . they might, but not for the reason implied. Hell, they wish THEY could have said those things. Besides taxes (and that's arguable were he faced with a recession), what programs proposed tonight would Gore disagree with?

I didn't like the talk about "volunteering"...this is a nasty little demon that just keeps poking its head up over and over again.
How is this different than a tax?

Daschle is just showing off his new rug. It looks good too!

Bush is going long Wish it were longer. Juan Williams just said this speech "SURPASSED EXPECTATIONS"! Never thought I'd agree with a democRAT.

They went to the BATHROOM, for obvious reasons. ;-)
To: snippy_about_it
...they stayed seated for quite a few roundsWell, I also saw them ALL stand too. Must admit, I was serving and cleaning up dinner, and I did not look up for every applause line. Those that I did seemed to show all of them standing quite a number of times.

Is Doris Kearns Goodwin reading what someone else wrote about Bush? Or is she just engaged in vapid conversation with Brokaw?
