Arab states plan to send a strongly worded message to the United States that its interests in the Arab world are at risk if it does not stop Israeli attacks on Palestinians, a Saudi newspaper reported on Monday.
The Arabic-language al-Watan quoted what it described as a high-ranking Jordanian source as saying that King Abdullah, now visiting Saudi Arabia, will carry the message to President Bush when he visits Washington this week.
``It will be an Arab message, particularly a Saudi one, that U.S. interests and relations with the Arab states will be in danger if Washington did not try to end Israel's terrorist policy in the region,'' the paper quoted the Jordanian source as saying.
It said that in their talks in Riyadh, the Jordanian and Saudi leaders agreed on the need to exert joint efforts to ``end the suffering of the Palestinian people and lift a siege imposed by Israel on Palestinian President Yasser Arafat.''
King Abdullah, who arrived in Saudi Arabia on Sunday for a two-day visit, is scheduled to meet President Bush on Friday.
He was chairman of the last Arab summit, held in Amman last year.
Arafat has been confined by Israeli tanks to his office in the West Bank town of Ramallah since December, following a series of suicide attacks inside Israel.
The Bush administration has been taking an increasingly tough line against Arafat in recent days, drawing praise from Israel and a call for U.S. sanctions against the Palestinian leadership.
Washington has suspended a cease-fire mission to the Middle East by its envoy Anthony Zinni. The retired Marine Corps general ended his second trip to the region two weeks ago.
Bush has said he was ``very disappointed'' with Arafat for not doing enough to rein in militants behind the attacks on Israel.
Jordanian Foreign Minister Marwan al-Muasher said on Sunday that King Abdullah plans to explain to Bush ``the danger of talking about suspending the peace process or contacts with the Palestinian Authority.''
Oil-rich Saudi Arabia, a key regional ally of the United States, has repeatedly urged Bush to push Israel to help end 16 months of Israeli-Palestinian violence.

But, if the Realpolitik should be altered, as appears to be underway, the Palestinians change from club to complication overnight.
Their usefulness at an end, the Arab states will not raise a finger to save them...

Well, let me see. That would be Arabs and Muslims, dear, but that's a tiny little grammatical/spelling error that is just not that important. We who have been here longer than 4 days have watched the many acts of violence against Christians and Arabs alike, but Arafat takes the cake. Yes, we hate the radical Muslims that twist their religion to fit their own agenda (re: Usama bin Laden), which you should know by now is to kill Christians and Jews. We have watched Palestinian radicals blow up innocent civilians (almost on a daily basis in the last week) to "further their cause". And we have watched while the mainstream media also twists THEIR agendas to fit what they think is correct. It is NOT OKAY to blow up men, women and children every day. Is it? We do not hate ALL ARABS AND MUSLIMS, Sugar and Spice. We simply abhor the ones who have to make mincemeat out of babies, children, mothers and fathers because they think it's right. It's NOT RIGHT.

On a side note, your country of Canada has and will do much more in the way of providing Arab immunity (and access to) the US for future acts of terrorism than just about anyone. Take a stab at your own country my friend before insulting mine. Good day!
I believe that Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Iran, Egypt, Saudies, and maybe a couple of others will be involved in the attacks, just as in 67 and 73. I believe the Jews will win, but they suffered heavy casualties during one of those wars. I forget exactly which one, but I think it was compared to our losses in Vietnam being about equal. This time, however, I believe they bring out all their big weapons (n-u-k-e-s).
If only the Israelis zealots weren't so bloodthirsty and land hungry!

So very telling this sentence - tells us the writer could not bring himself (or his copy editor would not allow him) to call the attacks on Israel for what they are, suicide bombings against innocent Israeli civilians.
Let's do a rewrite.
Bush said he is "Very disappointed" with Arafat for not stopping Palestinian militants behind the fanactical suicide bombings against Isreal civilians.
And disappointed is exactly what Bush's reaction should be to the statement from the Arab leaders.
If that statement were credible, it too would have identified the suicide bombings as a problem and would have called for an immediate end to them. Of course it did not. This too is very telling.
The Arab leaders prefer Isreal go back to giving up land and taking it in the chin, severed arms, legs and heads of its citizens with no reaction. So far President Bush has said this approach is no longer acceptable.
He is calling this one exactly right.
