Don't forget the Gulianni endorsement. That's been very significant the past few weeks, imo.

Bill Simons has our VOTE .We watched the debate and he is the only Republican candidate with convictions he is willing to publically stand firm on.

I appreciate your sentiments, but we DO NOT want Riordan to be our nominee because the damage will be astronomical.I think you may have misunderstood me. I don't want Riordan to be the nominee and I agree that he would be a disaster for the Republican party.
I was replying to a post that claimed Riordan would be the only one who could beat Davis and suggested he should be the R candidate. I absolutely disagree.
Maybe you should reread my post or I should talk more clearly......lol

Yes, Simon looks like he IS going to be a winner. So great to see the poll numbers move so fast. I have never seen that in a GOP campaign in California since I first started following politics here. The Giuliani support must have made a lot of Republicans take notice of Simon!

I just wish Simon would have come across better in the first debate. It made me want to switch my alliegence to Jones but then I found out he dumped Bush for McCain in the Presidential primaries and that made me want to puke.

"I am an 18yo first time voter, I am probably more conservative than Simon, but I want to get rid of Davis even if it takes Riordan to get the job done. Any suggestions?" Sure. Support and vote for Simon in the GOP primary. If it's Simon, so much the better.
Then, in the general election, support and vote for whoever wins the GOP primary.
That's the American way.

Pete Wilson destroyed the GOP, and you can take that to the bankPete Wilson destroyed the California GOP...AND, he almost destroyed California with his phony energy deregulation scam, THAT you can take to the bank....I can only wonder if Pete Wilson got Layed by Enron for doing that dirty deal.......

I doubt Riordan would win.
1. Riordan makes Davis look liberal.
2. Conservatives will stay home or even in my case if I lived there, vote for Davis over Riordan.
3. Riordan wants a gun ban.
4. Riordan backed Dianne Feinswine
5. Riordan backed Bill Klinton and Davis.
Now what conservative would back someone like that? I'd hold my nose for a lot of people after the switch by Jeffords to the dems, but I could not back Riordan if a gun was held to my head.
Davis can sortof keep the really bad dems like Kevin Shelley, Don Perata, and Jack Scott sortof in check. They would roll up Riordan in a minute, and Riordan would sign all their stuff to look 'bipartisan'.

Wow, I just received this e-mail myself - it's such great news.

We need to start trying to get the Jonesies to come over to our side. Think about it- Riordan with 45% to a combined conservative vote behind Simon of 31% with a good amount of time to go before the election. The sooner that Jones admits his defeat and bows out, the better it will be for conservatives up and down our state.
GO SIMON!
To: Impeach98
The big danger is that Simon and Jones will split the vote allowing Riordan to squeak by. I hope one or the other drops out before the primary.

This is one of the extremely rare times that I don't agree that any Republican is better than a Democrat. Riordan is not a fraction of a hair better than Davis.I would take it a step further. In my opinion it would be devastating for the national Republican Party if a liberal scumbag like Riordan beat Davis. A Riordan victory would energize other RINOs and liberal scumbag "moderate" Republicans into believing that people like Riordan are the future of the party. Then we would end up with two scumbag parties and no choice at all. I pray that Simon wins, but if Riordan wins the primary, I hope Republicans stay home for the general election. California is pretty much shot down the liberal toilet at this point anyway. Hopeless, from what I gather.
I hope I am wrong about that. "Governor Simon" would be real encouraging.
To: Impeach98
Thanks. Yeah that does explain a few things. Hopefully Simon will come across better the next time. I saw him speak in person and he was much better.

I just wish Simon would have come across better in the first debate. I know what you mean: in my opinion, he seemed a bit over-polished on TV, but then, remember, he's having to learn this on the fly. Television is a dangerous medium -- even accomplished public speakers can look like dorks on the small screen, and no amount of practice can compensate for experience. Simon did impress me, though, by being fairly direct about opposition to illegal immigration, his unabashed pro-life stance and a clear intelligence. He's a good candidate, and is going to give Riordan a run for his money. And that's a good thing, IMHO.
