True, Costin was a little so-and-so who needed to be called down, but I believe it was his apparent early victory that cost him his life. He "won" when Junta conceded the field, not realizing that the humiliation of the larger man would fuel his anger to murderous proportions.

But, big or small, a man who seeks a fight and kills his adversary can not claim self-defense. Costin would not have attacked him if Junta had taken his son, skates and all, and left like he seemed about to do.

You are right. Junta could have walked away but he re-entered the arena and smashed Costin's head into the ground. I don't care what your size, when you can walk away but you are such a thug that you have to beat a man's skull into the cement while his children are watching and people are trying to pull you off of him, you have a problem. The verdict was just. Junta deserves as much jail time as possible.

Bingo Thats the main point. He could have walked away but he did not. If there was no jury and a judge had decided his fate this point is what would have judged him. He had already left and there was no need for him to go back and beat the man till he died.

No sale. You seem to be saying that Junta should never have left, but rather that he should have stayed and pummeled that seven-time jailbird punk Costin right after he got sucker punched and kicked at with skates.
