Please pray for her, she is not doing well. I am afraid she will not live through the night. We are very worried for her.

I had my old KissyFace (I did not name her) for 22 years.
When she died I cried for 4 days.
I think your kitty sounds like it might get better.
If not, just think how much longer and what a nice life you've given this little creature
By the way, I would let the other cats (the ones that love her) stay around her if they want.
Especially if she doesn't seem to mind.
I'll say a prayer too.

Oh Don, this is good news. Often cats recover after being rehydrated, they begin eating again. This happened to my "Stripe" when she had liver failure. After we did the IV under the neck skin (with the drug cocktail) 2X daily for a month, she recovered completely. Good luck and I'll still pray for "Jessie".

We rescued a litter of kitties in 1983. After a lady adopted one of the kittens and my brother brought another home, we wound up with 5. They were 15 years old before the first one died, but in succession we lost all 5 since 1998. After the third died, we adopted "Mandy" from the Vets who is not a year and a half. My "baby", Cagney was the last to go and he died at 18 1/2 a few months ago. Since that time, we went straight out and adopted 3 more! I will pray for your kittie and know something of the anguish you are going through. I will pray for you too. Dittojed2

Hope your kitty continues to improve. Please let us all know how she is doing. Taking one of ours to vet tomorrow for regular checkup. He has been writing her off for the last two years, but she seems as spry as ever to us. Cats have character and endurance. Best wishes. parsy.

I just lost a cat a couple months ago.. She was 16 years old and I still miss her. What's the problem with the cat? Hope it gets better soon. No laughs from here. I know how it feels to lose a pet. Right now we are going through something simular with my sons Dog. He got out of the yard and was hit by a car a week ago today. He had multiple injuries. I have been sitting with him every day when my so goes to work. I'll pray for your cat and you pray for my grand dog..

I don't know if this will help but I had a puppy once with parvo, the vet said he was probably too far gone and it would cost $400.00 just to try to save him. My sister told me to get 9% Saline and give him subcutaneous shots. On the puppy, I slid the needle under the loose neck skin and pumped it up to about the size of a small egg and then when that had absorbed I'd do it again and he survived.

Saline might be hard to get if you don't have any livestock stores around but maybe you could overnight it from a vet supply on the internet.

Don Joe, I'm so happy to hear that Jessie is doing better. I had to stop in the middle of reading this thread to go hug my two kitties. I will pray for your little fur ball of love.
I lost a very loved cat less than a year ago to feline lukemia. She had been vaccinated for it, but apparently she had been exposed to it before I had rescued her from a shelter.
It still brings tears to my eyes to think about the way she went from being happy and playful one morning to not even being able to lift her head by that evening.
Keep up the positive thoughts, and we'll keep saying prayers.

Of all the problems in the world, I'm pretty sure that the Lord will take time out of his busy schedule to respond to all of your prayers.

I'll know he will. NEVER underestimate God and what He can handle. My God is awesome.

If you ever love an animal, there are three days in your life you will always remember...

The first is a day, blessed with happiness, when you bring home your young new friend. You may have spent weeks deciding on a breed. You may have asked numerous opinions of many vets, or done long research in finding a breeder. Or, perhaps in a fleeting moment, you may have just chosen that silly looking mutt in a shelter--simply because something in its eyes reached your heart. But when you bring that chosen pet home, and watch it explore, and claim its special place in your hall or front room--and when you feel it brush against you for the first time--it instills a feeling of pure love you will carry with you through the many years to come.

The second day will occur eight or nine or ten years later. It will be a day like any other. Routine and unexceptional. But, for a surprising instant, you will look at your long-time friend and see age where you once saw youth. You will see slow deliberate steps where you once saw energy. And you will see sleep where you once saw activity. So you will begin to adjust your friend's diet--and you may add a pill or two to her food. And you may feel a growing fear deep within yourself, which bodes of a coming emptiness. And you will feel this uneasy feeling, on and off, until the third day finally arrives.

And on this day--if your friend and God have not decided for you, then you will be faced with making a decision of your own--on behalf of your lifelong friend, and with the guidance of your own deepest Spirit. But whichever way your friend eventually leaves you---you will feel as alone as a single star in the dark night. If you are wise, you will let the tears flow as freely and as often as they must. And if you are typical, you will find that not many in your circle of family or friends will be able to understand your grief, or comfort you. But if you are true to the love of the pet you cherished through the many joy-filled years, you may find that a soul--a bit smaller in size than your own---seems to walk with you, at times, during the lonely days to come. And at moments when you least expect anything out of the ordinary to happen, you may feel something brush against your leg--very very lightly. And looking down at the place where your dear, perhaps dearest, friend used to lay---you will remember those three significant days. The memory will most likely be painful, and leave an ache in your heart---As time passes the ache will come and go as it has a life of its own. You will both reject it and embrace it, and it may confuse you. If you reject it, it will depress you. If you embrace it, it will deepen you. Either way, it will still be an ache.

But there will be, I assure you, a fourth day when---along with the memory of your pet---and piercing through the heaviness in your heart---there will come a realization that belongs only to you. It will be as unique and strong as our relationship with each animal we have loved, and lost. This realization takes the form of a Living Love---like the heavenly scent of a rose that remains after the petals have wilted, this love will remain and grow--and be there for us to remember. It is a love we have earned. It is the legacy our pets leave us when they go. And it is a gift we may keep with us as long as we live. It is a love which is ours alone. And until we ourselves leave, perhaps to join our beloved pets--it is a love that we will always possess.

Don Joe, I just found this post. As another cat lover (4 inside, several more outside) you can bet I'll pray for Jessie.

Several years ago, my first cat Alice was quite sick. By coincidence, I discovered she would eat pound cake. I took her to the vet, who mentioned she had read that sometimes cats will eat pound cake when they wouldn't eat anything else. You should have seen her face when I told her it was true!

I hope you have many more years with Jessie.
