Gallup had very different result. I trust Gallup.

As you may know, Congress passed a tax cut last year. Some of the tax cuts were scheduled to go into effect this year. Just your opinion, should Congress -- [ROTATED: postpone or repeal the tax cuts, (or) go ahead with the tax cuts as planned]?

Postpone or repeal tax cuts 28%
Go ahead as planned 67%
No opinion 5%

This makes me very nervous.

What do you suppose the results would be if they did not include those who pay no income tax?

One American Against the Income Tax

It's a lonely cause. Half of Americans don't pay and get free stuff. Half of the other half pay a little and don't get the problem. Half of the last quarter don't care anyway. Down to one.

Good grief. There's ALWAYS a deficit - all their talk about the Social Security Fund, the "surplus," etc etc etc is nothing but smoke and mirrors. But the sheep still believe it.

Essentially the feral government takes in as much as it can get its hands on, and then it spends, spends & spends. Since the fiasco in 1913, we will NEVER have a real surplus - we owe enough interest to the international bankers to make sure of that. And it only increases. That's how it's designed to work.

And the sheep are clueless as they're continually fleeced...

Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., last week urged dropping the tax cut for families with incomes of more than $130,000 a year.

How many inherited millions of dollars is Ted Kennedy sitting on? Maybe Ted Kennedy should contribute that money to the U.S. Government before taking money from two income families.

Does anybody know how much income tax Ted Kennedy paid last year?

Fifty-two percent of adults say they'd support killing the tax cut "if doing so helped to avoid a deficit in the federal budget,"

But the problem with this is THAT KILLING THE TAX CUT WON'T DO ANY SUCH THING!!!!! The problem has NEVER been a lack of revenue, it has ALWAYS been a SPENDING PROBLEM!!!

Never underestimate the ability of ABC news to publish a biased poll with a biased premise in order to promote its leftist agenda of bigger government.

These silly "what if" questions are always pushed by pro-income-tax pollsters in our state to inflate the desired response. "What if an income tax would solve world hunger, would you be for it?" is a lot different than asking, "are you for a state income tax?"

I have a guess that ABC polling calls are like this

ABCNews: "Hello, this is ABCNews. We are conducting a poll regarding the 'stupid' tax cut. Are you a liberal democrat?"

Polled: "Umm, no and its not a 'stupid' tax cut"

Same old horse pukey stuff from the All Bill Clinton non news, just left wing spin team.

Lets sent a up a federal fund to reduce the debt and see how many people contibute to it!

I'm 63 years old and only recently have the tax and spend and give away DemonicRats ever been concerned about having a balanced budget in my life time.

That balanced budget came around due to the Republican Congress that we finally had. Clintoon and the Da$$holes fought balancing the budget like the deranged fanatics they are! Now they are all for it!

Just boycott ABC news for this bs prop spin attempt!

They have to increase our tax load to pay for the perverted dark side voters who vote several times each election to keep them in office. Then they need higher taxes to make sure that as demonicRat senators, they are among the richest humans on earth like ChiFi!

Tax, spend and lie is what they are all about!

State of the Union Address.

Be interesting what the Dems try and pull to distract from it, but the bully pulpit arrives in one week.

These fifty-two percent were the ones found at home when the polling took place. Most people were out WORKING!

The Robin Hood/class warfare approach plays well with the democrats

And they didn't even get it right: Robin Hood stole from the nobility who laid and collected taxes and gave it back to the peasants who paid the taxes.

This is probably about the same percentage of adults who do not pay taxes.

That is no exaggeration. Look at who actually pays income tax in this country.

95% of all income tax paid is by the top 40% in the country. The rest get essentially a free ride.

Of course they don't care if the tax cut is repealed. They have no stake in it.

Not really. You are not mentioning the FICA payroll taxes. A tax is a tax, and when they take it out of your paycheck every couple of weeks, that's out of your income in my book.

I think a majority of taxpayers has a higher total tax bill from the payroll tax than they do from the federal income tax. I'd like to hear someone from either party, but especially the Republicans, advocate the outright abolition of this regressive, hidden tax. It would trump the liberals' arguments about how tax cuts are for the wealthy virtually overnight.

Thanks for the spiffy graph. So there are people in the fortieth percentile in terms of income who not only don't pay taxes, but get money back from the government? How is this possible? I shouldn't be surprised.
