Some FReepers have nicks that are obvious in their origin, others don't. I've seen several that probably have interesting stories behind them.
I thought it would be cool to see where FReepers get their handles from. If you don't like this topic, DON'T POST HERE! No one forces you to read this. I'm sure other people may be interested. If I'm the only one, let me know so I can crawl away in shame.
"If we weren't all crazy, we would go insane"
EAGLE NEBULA.... long story. Get a cup o' coffee and pull up a chair!
Eagles have come to mean a lot to me. While my children and I were going through a messy divorce and custody battle with protection orders....the Lord would send one or two eagles across my path, whenever I needed encouragement and reassurance. I saw more eagles in 1 1/2 yrs in the mid-west, than I did in 8 yrs in Montana!!
When I started looking for a male friend, hoping for a companion and mate....I asked the Lord to show me when it was the right guy this time, and not let me make a foolish mistake. I asked God to use an eagle sighting, in detail, as a sign for me to know.
In the period that followed I met several guys, but none of them told me of an eagle sighting. One day in March as I was about to give up hope, God sent 5 eagles--2 mature, and 3 not to the field a 1/2 mile from my house!!! A few days later, I met this guy that sounded really neat....just as I wasn't expecting it. While we were talking, he told me about seeing an eagle in Yellowstone National Park with his son. He described in detail what he saw! OH MY!
I was in disbelief. Later, when we were together, he again told me the story. I still wasn't sure ....and asked God to make a recent sighting so I would be sure! Two days later, we were driving together, and before our very eyes, we saw a bald eagle do just as he has described to me! I circled 3 times, dove down, grabbed a fish from the water, and dropped it on the bank!! (OH MY!) I had not told him about its importance that moment!!!
We got married soon after that! God has still shown us an eagle now and then, when we need the assurance most!!
My name comes from the fact that the eagle symbolizes so much to me / us. I knew it had to be a part of my name! ~ While I was searching for a name, my man came across this glorious name and picture of the Nebula!! Nebula is a cloudlike grouping of stars, sometimes gives birth to stars, if I understood it right! LOL ~ ~ Anyway, it signifies my / our new start on life! Our hopes and dreams, and our expectancy of what God has in store! He has truly blessed me with my man! I am so crazy in love!!! Or was it just crazy??? There you have it! Need to top that cup of coffee off? Blessings on your day, all!
By the way, my man is a FReeper, and that is how I got here...but, I am not an addict yet! ;-)

When he mentioned the 75 yard line, I was wondering about that. I don't know of any range that bothers with 75 yards unless they shoot silhouette which is 77 yards which is only a metal rail to stand up the plates. Most gun ranges have 3 yards, 7 yards, 10 yards, 50 feet, and/or 25 yards for pistols. 50 yards, 100 yards, 200 yards, 300 yards and 600 yards for rifles.
If there were rifles with scopes available, he should have focused at 100 yards using the marks on the scope and then figured from there.
We are known to have a ... little bit of fun. Ronald Reagan is a Clamper. So was Nixon ... and so is Jerry Moonbeam Brown though we try not to claim him.
It was standing upright. Slightly larger target.
When he mentioned the 75 yard line
We were shooting in the desert. We measured the range out ourselves (the shorter ones, 75 being the longest we actually measured).
If there were rifles with scopes available, he should have focused at 100 yards using the marks on the scope and then figured from there.
The only scopes available were of the cheap Wal-Mart variety. I'm not much of a rifleman myself, so I wouldn't have known how to do that anyway. I just know how to shoot my handguns very well.
I somehow have managed to live in liberal towns and neighborhoods all my life where conservatives were non-existent. I feel like the last Vulcan who refuses to give up his piss-and-vinegar attitude and become a spineless, passivist, politically correct, pointy-headed intellectual. Up your's Federation!
Live long and prosper.
