It's Now 20 Years In Slammeramma For Sara Jane Olson

Posted on 01/18/2002 10:56:44 AM PST by MindBender26

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Former Symbionese Liberation Army fugitive Sara Jane Olson was sentenced today to 20 years to life in prison for conspiring to blow up police cars in 1975.

Following tearful statements from family and friends, Olson said she was "truly sorry" for causing anyone any pain. But she denied trying to murder officers by planting bombs under the two Los Angeles police cars to avenge the deaths of six SLA members during a shootout with authorities in 1974. The bombs didn't explode.

Superior Court Judge Larry Fidler sentenced Olson to two consecutive terms of 10 years to life.

the government will take care of her!!!

This is a true staement. For many, though not necessarily her, prison is a step up in life. Too bad isn't it? Liberalism has made many of our prisons into country clubs.

I saw a brief blip of her daughter's tearful testimony before sentencing. When she was crying too hard to speak anymore she left the stand and went to her mother. Although Sara Jane Olson took her daughter in her arms her attentioned was focused on looking over her daughter's shoulder with at someone with a "how is this playing expression". That was my read on it. I think she is still cold hearted.

Don't be too quick to celebrate. The sentence is up to review by California Sentence Review Board. Who knows how many liberal clowns there will push to shorten her stay. Hopefully, in light of recent events she'll get a longer sentence.

She is not being sentenced by the Feds, but by a state court. Federal guidelines don't apply, only California's.

The Feds have jurisdiction in limited circumstances, such as the crime being committed on federal property, crosses state lines (kidnapping, mail fraud and wire fraud are examples), against federal officials, and so on.

That's why we need to convict Ms. Olson/Soliah in the bank robbery trial that is coming up with none other than Patty Hearst as the star witness. I'll be she never dreamed that the day would come when forensic science could link shotgun pellets to a crime!

Ain't science wonderful!

I'm pleased that Soliah will be serving her sentence in a California prison. She petitioned the court to permit her to serve her time in Minnesota - the Shakopee women's prison here in ever-so-enlightened Minnesota is as repressive and onerous as a day spa.

What a denying self-serving low life. She was wanted and ran for twenty years. Could have saved everyone the heartache if she would have faced the music twenty years ago. Oh well, it's so much better to put a husband and children through this.

Sarah, you were, are and always will be a lying murdering a--.

yep. according to MSNBC she got the minimum sentence possible and under current law could be out in as little as three years. (not counting whatever happens on the murder charge she just got indicted for)

They had every intention of killing cops and nothing said now by the evil libs will change that.

During the election, the libs said "intentions" counted. Now concerning Sara Jane Olson, they say "intentions" don't count.

Which is it, then?

I would agree with you 100%, except that I think she ran for 25 years, not the 20 years you cite.

Do you think she will be thankful for any of those years that she had to enjoy freedom and family, those almost 30 years now, that some of her victims have lost totally? I think not, she will blame every last person on earth, before she will ever accept that she herself is responsible for her crimes. She almost berates some of her own supporters for thinking that she may somehow have pulled a fast one on them.

This lying woman is so totally self-centered, that she must be considered clintonian. All you have to do is look at how she has treated her family and friends.

could be out in as little as three years.

Grrrrr! I was afraid that might be true. Do you see people, it's all for show - satisfy the passions of the moment is the ruling theme. When she's released after three years there won't be any focusing point; parole board meetings aren't something anyone pays attention to like sentencing. We all, this entire nation, are being played for fools! Twenty years to life means nothing, absolutely nothing, except to satisfy the bloodthirsty mob (you and I) - they think as they regard us with utter contempt. Sorry to be so cynical, but I've observed this legal system for years and have been getting sicker and sicker of it!

I was reading a rather well written article in my local daily rag about the lastest murder charges against the entire gang (I don't know if it was posted here.) It quoted all kinds of experts, law professors, lawyers and so on. Whatever we think of them, and we generally don't think of them too well, it doesn't sound like the case will be a walk in the park. In fact, it could very well fall apart, and it is probably a safe bet to say that some of the gang will walk immediately (as opposed to after three years,) with their reputations enhanced among this country's cognoscenti. It's going to be quite a freaking show. This country's entire one million lawyer population is salivating at this case, as we speak, folks.

That is not to say that I think it is a mistake for the state of CA to pursue this case, only to warn that it is not going to be your grandmother's delicious fruitcake.
