Polenta, but that is a little bit finer milled typically than most of us down here would prefer.

That's way too healthy for my tastes. This is how we do it:

Dump cheeder cheese into the grits while they're boiling. Let them solidify and cool down. Cut it out of the pan in thin square pieces. Fry it in pure bacon fat. Serve.

It's cholesterol-licious!

Grits - Breakfast of Champions

Some might not like this one (I don't give a sh*t though): When I was coming up in my home town, we had a junior high school teacher (history) who quit his job and opened up a T-Shirt shop with another guy. They airbrushed customed jobs and they were pretty cult in our little town for a while (maybe even still). Anyway, I had a thought up a shirt and had them make it for me when I was 14. It was a bunch of Confederate Soldiers sitting around a campfire having a meal out of bowls. In the background were a field of dead Yankee Soldiers. The caption for the shirt was from your post:

Grits- The Breakfast of Champions"
.

Thanks for bringing back that memory. The nostalgia sets in though... Nobody at school bitched about me having a shirt like then. Ahh. Those were the days. (God, now I'm thinking about "All in the Family".)
