[history]
On Sunday, peace activists will converge at the Lincoln Memorial at 1 p.m. for a rally. The demonstration is organized by the D.C. Anti-War Network, which said the event is designed to protest civilian casualties of U.S. bombing in Afghanistan and civil liberties violations in the war on terrorism. A march to the White House is planned to follow the rally, and organizers said several dozen protesters plan to be arrested in an as-yet-unspecified act of nonviolent civil disobedience. "Dr. King taught us that sometimes you have to lay your body down for your principles," said Dave Zirin, one of the organizers.

This is the only thread I know of. We're trying to get a good crowd. Keep it bumped and we'll see you there.

I suggest we keep time and location of assembly private until last possible moment. FReepmail should do the trick until then.
To: Dave Dilegge
Well blow me down...NO links to IAC or ANSWER on DAWN's website. Some of the rally sponsors listed have set off the "commie" alarm though. Are you familiar with American Friends Service Committee, Black Voices for Peace, DC Statehood Green Party, Fellowship of Reconciliation, Global Exchange, International Socialist Organization-DC, Left Turn, Pax Christi USA, Peace Action, Quixote Center, SALSA, SOA Watch, Veterans for Peace, War Resister's League, Washington Peace Center, or the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom?

Bump to you, MotherSpector. I wish these people would take their tired communist act somewhere else, for I will not STAND for them to succeed here. They may have the right to speak and believe whatever they choose, but we have the RESPONSIBILITY to expose their dishonesty.
How clever of them to substitute benign words like "social & economic justice" for their real agenda.

My powder is dry but we're not hearing much from the warlords. Maybe by this evening.

This needs to be done regardless if the warlords show or not! Freedom is at stake as you well know, my friend.

I agree. I was going to add that some of us will be there no matter what. They have every right to be on the mall and make a statement. We just don't have to let them have a free pass. I'm looking forward to it.
To: stand watie
Any chance you will reconsider? We may not be that close to the Lincoln Memorial when we decide on a place to meet.
To: stand watie
Thank you! Well said!!!!!!!!!!!!

What's benign about"social and economic justice"? That's a communist term and it always has been. Don't tell me that it's now a GOP slogan, though it wouldn't surprise me at all.

the event is designed to protest civilian casualties of U.S. bombing in Afghanistan and civil liberties violations in the war on terrorism. Lord, these people are idiots. I once e-mailed a bunch of their "peacenik" link websites (nasty...make sure you have virus protection), and got the same Robert Scheer talking points back in personal letters from quite a few. They simply do not hear the truth. A small drum and fife corp, complete with bloody bandages and brochures w/ terrorists facts may help. Remind them that Osama was willing to let how many of his own people die for his warped cause (millions?), and that American Muslims have freedoms they never had in their own home countries.
I'll root for your Ravens...a sacrifice for this Floridian.
