There is no necessary connection between being for or against libertarianism and one’s position on religion. It is true that many if not most libertarians at the present time are atheists, but this correlates with the fact that most intellectuals, of most political persuasions, are atheists as well.

I don't buy that at all. Being intellectual does not correlate to being atheist, at least not amoung conservatives. The vast majority of intellectual conservatives are very religious. I would also say in my experience that most Libertarians are hostile towards religous people. Of course they will never admit it and get downright angry when I point it out.

I politely disagree. I haven't a problem with religious people. Many are my friends and family. The only problem occurs when some of them attempt to impose their will upon others through coercion.

Of course, I get equally upset at anyone who tries to do that, no matter what their motive.

It has been my experience that my being Libertarian and religious is often attacked by religious Conservatives as being "luke warm".

Only when Christians and others, but especially fundie christians, employ the Bible as justification for unjust law, i.e., sodomy laws.

You were correct to point out that they were in your personal experience.

I am an Orthodox Jew and a libertarian. I have many Orthodox Jewish friends who consider themselves libertarians as well. The only hostility towards religious people I have noticed among libertarians is as it relates to the use of government force to uphold religious views of morality.

"I would also say in my experience that most Libertarians are hostile towards religous people."

That's why I, as a libertarian, attend church three times a week and read the Bible at least an hour a day, right?
