It seems there is a sudden upswing in ping list. Please don't take me wrong I'm on a few of them and I enjoy them. However when a person starts recieving whole list pings to a same thread 4 times for that same thread then I consider that to be abuse.
Most of us in here if we want off a ping list do so by posting the request in the thread and the issue is then settled. The person may have many reasons for doing so like getting pings to topics they do not want to pinged to.
In the last couple of days it seems there has been someone who refuses to take a hint even after multiple request on threads asking for name removal from the ping list. Is the person not seeing them? No I really don't think so as this person when someone request to be put on the list replies on the thread they are added.
The ping list should be a one time per thread event. If not such as the case now three threads equals 12 pings to all on the list. I think it's clear to see the problem it creates. Self search becomes bogged down.
I have tried to resolve this issue without resorting to this post. I can not just ignore 12 plus pings a day to just three different threads all from one freeper doing the runaway pings. To all others and you know who you are this is in no way directed at you or your list in any way.
Seriously, though, I'm on about a half a dozen ping lists, and even though I don't respond to the majority, I want to stay on all of them. Just because I don't respond doesn't mean I don't read them.
It's not the same thing to see what I'm talking about click on my name to my profile then find in forum. Check the threads I was pinged to by davidosborne and count the number of times per thread. You will notice that the pings are from a ping list. That means a bunch of us are being pinged several times to the same thread.
I asked the freeper several times to remove my name from it and the request was ignored. This is actually spamming. Even his continious post of mail me to be removed remind me of e-mail spammers who say click here to be removed from this list. A simple post saying please remove me from your list should be enough. It is not my responsibility to keep reminding him. If he want's a ping list it's his responsibility to insure it doesn't become a problem for others.
Please use this as your opportunity to request OFF my ping list. I don't ping to annoy, only to bring articles that I think are informative, interesting or humorous, etc. You will NOT hurt my feelings to want OFF my list. Thanks! :o) Richard Meek
(((PING))))))
Please let me know if you want ON or OFF my ping list!. . .don't be shy.
Cheers, CC :)
I try to check out most articles you ping me to, but it's impossible to get into the discussion and compose a thoughtful reply for even a fraction of them. You know the deal.
I only FReep in the early mornings and would otherwise miss many interesting articles. Thank you so much.
DITTO!
When I go through my self search for reference, I have to rummage through 50 gazillion pings to subjects I could give 2 craps about.
There are a handful of posters that I enjoy being on their ping lists (the vets and second amendment posters come to mind) but most are from people I don't even know.
It took me three requests to get off that blockhead Osborne's list.
Thanks for the PINGEROONIE!~~~
Oh come on now, you know you like it ;-)
Me first. Me first.
